Campaigning 1-0-dumb
Nov 4th, 2008 by RSmitty
Today, I received negative mailers paid by Rebecca Walker’s campaign, all of course attacking Dick Cathcart. On this day, I did not receive one, I did not receive two, but I received THREE, yes THREE negative mailers from her campaign. Unfortunately for Mrs. Walker, her inaccurate and exaggerated talking points were already disclosed to me a couple of weeks ago by a friend who is absolutely disgusted by the old-boys of local D politics here (please note that I recognize that this is a select few – the political demographics are changing on all sides and both sides’ good ol’ boys are close to impotence around here). There is another blogger not from this site that heard my rants about this two to three weeks ago as well, so it is confirmed. Make no mistake that this was a planned attack meant for the final days. One mailer was a regurgitation of an earlier negative piece with a different graphic on one side. Another was one with BHL, Melanie George Marshall, and Valerie Longhurst stumping for her and taking shots at Cathcart. The other, believe it or not, was a regurgitation of the first, but again, with another different graphic on the front.
Yes, all three, same day. On the “tip” I received that was incredibly accurate, the inaccuracies and exaggerations weren’t coming from Walker, but from the unholy developer alliance that plagues this region. They simply parroted it to her and she didn’t do the necessary homework. One of the confirmed three from that group is a public official, and that person is Bill Powers, who may have done the most damage in one day to a “friend” candidate of anyone I have ever seen, with his inaccurate and politically-sponsoring attack-piece letter (look at his final paragraph – he made it an endorsement by way of his closing comment – LiberalGeek from DelawareLiberal posted on it last Saturday night). The other two are not public officials (one is an ex-official), so I would be out of place to name them, but if you know MOT politics, you most definitely know who they are (GW and CR). George Washington and Cesar Rodney are good guesses, but not correct.
In closing, since I could not call into DTR today to challenge her (one operating line), those two attornies on her campaign financing that she attempted to brush off aren’t just industry collegues, they are land use attornies…one having been a critical player in the WFH Ordinance (see my earlier post on Bill Bell’s report). I don’t personally blame Mrs. Walker. From everything told to me and it having played out perfectly, she has received bad advice – ROTTEN advice. There are times when the company you keep affects the perception that defines you.

ugh, the same people are in council posts. NCC is in trouble.
