BREAKING: Senate’s Financial Markets Bill
Oct 1st, 2008 by RSmitty
First, I can’t believe I have watched CSPAN-2 for one hour so far…I’ve now gone 60 times my annual quota!
As of 9:14PM – 45Y 18N. Looking like it’s going to PASS…of course, you never know until it’s over.
9:16PM – 58Y 18N. PASS, except voting still open…flip-flopping still a possibility.
9:18PM – 65Y 19N. It’s all but final now. There won’t be enough flip-flopping to turn it.
Damn it! That was the Dodd Amendment?! You bastards! Is that what tonight was all about? I’m sooo confused. OK, so I THINK this was the intent of all the hullabaloo for the Senate today. Final vote: 74Y 25N. Who didn’t vote??? (update: It was Kennedy that didn’t vote…I should have know that with his recent health downturn)
Sorry for the confusion. See what happens when you make me watch CSPAN-2 more than one minute per year?! I hate you Senate (for making me watch CSPAN-2)!!! BOOOO!!!!

I was watching too. They said something like they mirrored the vote for the amendment to be the vote on the bill itself. It confused me for a second too. You would think that for such an important bill they would grandstand on the vote a bit, instead the mirrored vote (for lack of the real term) gave them time to stage the press conference instead.
I read up a bit.. the Dodd Amendment was the bill added onto an unrelated bill.
Here’s the way they voted.
