Japanese Emperor Akihito and the President that Bows

I wish it were a sign of humility, but it’s not. It simply humiliates America, our protocol, our independence, and our Constitution. By Japanese standards the depth of that bow means the person is either totaly ignorant, or has had every last ounce of pride beaten out of them. Our President either looked hoplessly clueless, or like he was ready to lick the dust of the Japanese Emperor’s shoes. I can’t wait to see what the Japanese have to say about it. The worst part is that the Japanese are good people and understand our protocol. President Obama didn’t need to bow at all, and if he really wanted to just for kicks and giggles it would have shown more respect to actually learn and execute the proper Japanese protocol for addressing equals. Rather he showed ignorance and a lack of concern for their actual customs and courtesies.

Well, we know that the President is not exactly lacking in pride, so I’m guessing it’s the first.

You are absolutely right. Honestly there isn’t much to say about this other than to express my thorough dissapointment. I don’t know how our military can continue to salute a Commander in Cheif that can’t seem to stop himself from bowing in front of people with royal titles, and still mantain their self-respect and dignity.

In 2005, four years after 12 Saudi terrorists attacked the USA in a plot directed by Saudi Osama Bin Laden of the prominent Bin Laden family of Saudi Arabia, President George W. Bush greeted the leader of Saudi Arabia with kisses hugs and handholding. Do you recall these pictures?
This was at a time when OPEC was doubling the price of oil.
