BACKFIRE: ABC 6 stood up By Castle–O’Donnell will still get a forum

Aug 27th, 2010 by David Anderson

Congressman Mike Castle ditched ABC Philly, channel 6 in a move that may have reprocussions. ABC Philly opted not to let him silence Ms. O’Donnell and instead will air a Delaware Republicans Federal Candidates debate on Sunday September 5th at 11:30 am with all candidates who accepted the invitation. The candidates who care enough about the votes to share their views in the only televised debate are Glen Urquhart, Michele Rollins, and Christine O’Donnell. Give them stars. Frowning faces are deserved to be given to Mike Castle and new comer Rose Izzo. What is the deal with Izzo? I hope the people who gave money to get her on the ballot can get refunds.

Watch carefully to see if anyone chickens out. I doubt it because anyone backing out now would be political road kill.

WAY TO GO CHRISTINE!!!!!!!!!!! I’d say Castle is toast now because now all of Delaware will know he chickened out.

  2. on 27 Aug 2010 at 09:462Windjammer

    Go Christine
Silence these fake republicans, Tennessee Walker, StosselFan and Apo Whichiapi. They would vote for Coons sthe Marxist, before they voted for a real conservative like O’Donnell.

You three fakes remind me of the liberal assault on Sarah Palin, only you guys are much worse. You are bottom feeders that stand for nothing. You attack a person simply because you don’t like them and dig in every corner to find dirt.
Doing a character assassination on a member of your own party is unacceptable and reprehensible. If it’s a personal thing, then say that and get it over with.

  3. on 27 Aug 2010 at 09:493David Anderson

TW a fake Republican? Thanks for the good laugh. He has already pledged to support the winner of the primary whether Christine or Mike.

Let’s get back to the subject, this will be a big moment and the great news is that it may increase viewership of the house congressional candidates. I wonder if Mike Castle’s schedule will suddenly clear between now and Monday since this is in the public.

  4. on 27 Aug 2010 at 10:254Windjammer

    David
Then why does He stand behind the biggest RINO in the House. Now, I know there are a few of them but I believe that Castle has taken the crown for the lot.

Everybody has baggage if you’re willing to dig it up. Christine certainly has her share but where it counts, she will stand up for what she believes. That is the Republic and the conservative issues. That is what I have talked to her about, the issues and the Republic and that’s what I care about.

If I were under enemy fire in a foxhole with Castle, he would cut and run and would take the easy out. Christine would stay and fight and we would win the day. Our forefathers didn’t cut and run but TW did because he didn’t keep it on the issues but instead chose to take the easy way out and cut and run. He thinks Castle can win and O’Donnell can’t; well he is wrong and not willing to stay the course.
Well I won’t cut and run and take the easy way out, there is too much at stake.
She has already proven she will stay the course. Anybody that can put up with TW’s daily personal assault will make a fine senator

  5. on 27 Aug 2010 at 10:315David Anderson

I support Christine as strongly as you do, but I just reject this notion that someone who supports Castle is not a real Republican. If Christine wins, which is starting to look 50/50, she will need all of those “fake” Republicans to have a shot at winning in November. It is never too early to start playing nice with people you need. Attack Mr. Castle if you need to strategically. I get it. Don’t broaden the attack to people who like him. That I don’t get. This state is what 29% Republican and 23% independent or something like that. Any way Democrats out number us by 50%. We can’t afford to subdivide ourselves.

That is just my view. I hope it makes sense.

  6. on 27 Aug 2010 at 10:336StosselFan

Windjammer, it’s always struck me that simple name calling and insults are the last refuge of those who’ve lost the argument on the merits. Just because I think Christine is irresponsbile (let’s see, based on her failure to hold a real job, her campaign finance filing difficulties, the foreclosure, her distortions and constant blaming of other people, paying her own expenses, but stiffing campaign workers, the list is endless), and therefore unelectable in a general election doesn’t make me a “fake” republican any more than it makes you a “fake.”

Quite frankly, I think it is irresponsbile and selfish of O’Donnell to continue to run. She can’t win the general election, as the Democrats and media would have a field day with her personal problems (it’s no accident that DeMint and Palin have stayed away, they don’t want to be made to look like fools). So, she sucks up resources and attention and prevents a good, possibly electable conservative from entering the fray.

In any event, one can support Castle and oppose O’Donnell without being a “fake.”

  7. on 27 Aug 2010 at 10:417Windjammer

    David
Your point is well taken and I agree with it.

  8. on 27 Aug 2010 at 10:458Windjammer

    SF
I will agree to completely disagree with you. David is right on this one.
But doing a Sarah Palin on someone in you own party and that is a patriot is unacceptable. It is character assassination at its worst and the democrats hope that we will destroy our own. Whether you believe it or not, she is a true patriot and believes passionately in America and its people,

  9. on 27 Aug 2010 at 11:359StosselFan

    Windjammer,
She can be a “true” patriot, whatever that means, and she might even be a genuine, nice person, but she can also be completely incompetant when it comes to her own finances and ability to hold a job; as a result, I submit she is totally unelectable in the general election. And to me, it’s all about getting a Republican elected in the general election and defeating Coons. Castle can do that. O’Donnell has no shot. Zip, zero, zilch.

And by the way, your comment about who you want in the foxhole has it completely backward. Christine O’Donnell has stiffed her past campaign workers. She floats the rumor that Castle might switch parties, yet all the while is trying to get on the ballot for the Consitution Party. She lies to out-of-state Tea Party folks by claiming she won 2 out of 3 counties in 2008. She blames everyone but herself for her problems, and fails to take any personal responsibility. Give me a break. She is as self-centered as they come.

  10. on 27 Aug 2010 at 11:4210Windjammer

    SF
I heard your “bait and switch” several times. We have already agreed to disagree; let’s leave it at that. We’ll both know on Sept 15th. I have better things to do.

  11. on 27 Aug 2010 at 11:4311Michael P. Borgia

Fifty-fifty, David? I would be curious to see even one poll of Republican voters that substantiates that.

Right now, I just don’t believe it.

As I’ve said to Windjammer though, if it should happen, I’ll gladly eat whatever crow is served and ask where the salt is.

For now though, I think the only thing that should be said to or about Christine O’Donnell is…

    Happy Birthday….

  12. on 27 Aug 2010 at 11:5112David Anderson

Hey, I can’t be wrong if I say 50/50. If it happens, I am right. If it does not, I am right.

My reasoning, early August Castle was under 50% with likely voters and she was closing in on 40%. If the tea Party express does their usual 500,000 in ads in the last 10 days like they did for the guy in Alaska, Angle, or Paul she will get a big bump in the polls. If Palin or someone comes in which is an unkown along with the right to life, pro-family, Independence tea party and patriot groups, and pro-gun groups already committed that organization can add 4 to 10 points to a primary on top of the ad blitz.

I say it really depends on Christine being solid in debate and the tea party express actually showing up. Even without Mama Grizzly, that could actually tip it. If they do not, the organization, money, and 45 years of good will held by Mr. Castle would likely hold her off.

  13. on 27 Aug 2010 at 12:2013Pat Fish

I keep hearing about campaign workers O’Donnell supposedly stiffed yet I have never seen a name of an agrieved. Further, why not take her to court? Smoke and mirrors I say.

As for her inability to hold a job….on what basis is this asserted? Can I be provided with a list of employers who have FIRED Christine?

It’s no mind how she survived…maybe she had a boyfriend support her.

I distinctly know about that bogus income tax audit that had the monkeys hooting and hollering…ONE-a private thing that some Castle fan with no morals made public and TWO-was a big nothing-burger.

Dear Lord, someone on the woman’s staff suggested Castle might turn Democrat….speculating in a political year…imagine that. Speculating about something very possible given Castle’s voting record.

It’s the same old, same old with these anti-O’Donnell people. They got big nothing-burgers and shout like monkeys over it.

I’m thinking she might have stretched the facts a bit with the number of counties she won against Biden but who knows…maybe she was crossing fingers behind her back and speaking of the primary.

Yet Rollins tells a blatant lie about repealing health care, swearing into my lying ears that she’d espoused repealing health care emphatically and it was Urquhart lying about it. To have Bill Colley play, again into my lying ears, the ACTUAL SOUND BYTE where Rollins said NO…very plainly as my lying ears heard but hey, my ears do lie….that she’d rather dismantle OBamacare and rebuild it as opposed to repeal.

Well Rollins lied about this yet the hooting and hollering monkeys are strangely silent. And yet I will still support Rollins should she get the pub nomination despite the lie…because…POLITICIANS LIE!

To listen to the O’Donnell haters, who have been unable to get anything on that poor woman except nothing booger burgers as if she were a serial killer, only O’Donnell lies.

Mike Castle, of course, always tells the truth.

  14. on 27 Aug 2010 at 12:2814GeorgeC

It’s not going to matter, the primary may be closer than some people think, but in the end Castle will win. It is as simple as that.

  15. on 27 Aug 2010 at 13:1215Windjammer

    GeorgeC
    Dream on, Dream on:

You will eating crow along with Michael, SF,TW and APO. There will be plenty of salt available, because I’ve heard that crow tastes much better with salt.
Talk to ya on Sept. 15th

  16. on 27 Aug 2010 at 13:2416GeorgeC

We’ll see, O’Donnell’s polling is in a free fall. In the last Rasmussen poll she trailed Castle in support by likely Republican voters 81-66. Castle’s name is out there, he’s got much more support than her where the bulk of Republicans live(NCC) and to be honest I’m not sure half the people in this state have any idea who she is. I think the House race is the real nail biter in the primary, but my money is on Urquhart taking it because I think his campaign is a bit better run than Michelle’s.

  17. on 27 Aug 2010 at 14:0117Windjammer

I agree that Urquhart will beat Rollins in the primary but all it will take for O’Donnell to prevail will be that the true conservative base stays in her camp and a big name like Sarah Comes to Delaware in the last few days of the campaign.
Delaware 9-12 patriots mostly support her as well as the Tea Party.
People are ready for a true conservative senator and many things happen in the last two weeks of any campaign. The Massachusetts senatorial election was turned around in the last week of the campaign. I wouldn’t count your chickens yet; the eggs haven’t begun to hatch.
We’re out shooting the crows and cleaning them now so there will be enough for everybody.

  18. on 27 Aug 2010 at 16:5418Pat Fish

I’d love to see Urquhart beat O’Donnell. Hope George C and WJ are right.

I’d also love to see O’Donnell pull it out but….well….I’d love to see her win.

She gets a Palin endorsement and it’s all over.

I heard Palin endorsed another Republican besides Ehrlich in Merryland. THAT’s interesting.

I want to know how public servants become millionaires. Castle and Carper have been public servants, on the public dole, for decades. How do they accumulate that much wealth on their (publicly funded) salaries?

“Delaware’s delegation claims the only other all-millionaire lineup: Rep. Mike Castle’s (R) net worth tallies at least $2.7 million, while Democratic Sens. Tom Carper and Ted Kaufman reported fortunes of $2.17 million and $7.97 million, respectively.”

Mouse Castle, hidin’ in his hole. ‘Squeak, squeak.’

  22. on 27 Aug 2010 at 22:0022Michael P. Borgia

Castle and Carper have been drawing $100,000+ public salaries for a very long time. Castle since he was Governor in 1984, Carper since he became a House member in 1983. When you make that kind of salary and manage your money wisely, you can accumulate that kind of wealth. Carper holds an MBA and Castle is an attorney, thus they had excellent earning potential in the private sector earning before entering politics full time at ages 39 and 35 respecitively.

Kaufman has never held elective office and while working as a staffer for Biden, had the luxury of being able to do whatever he wanted on the outside. He’s a former DuPont engineer and a very bright man. So it’s little wonder he’s worth a lot more money.

  23. on 28 Aug 2010 at 07:3823Rick

Mouse Castle: “Is she gone? Can I come out now? Squeak, squeak.”

  24. on 28 Aug 2010 at 12:5324Paula Gropp

“When you make that kind of salary and manage your money wisely, you can accumulate that kind of wealth.”

Then why do they suck so bad at managing the people’s and the country’s money, causing the US to be trillions of dollars in debt? If they would apply their oh so great money management skills to the budget like they do their own money, the US should be accummulating wealth, not spiraling into debt.

Please explain to me how they are able to become millionaires by managing their own money wisely, and yet vote to spend our money like drunken sailors on a shore pass. (No offense to sailors.)

  25. on 28 Aug 2010 at 15:2225GeorgeC

Castle balanced the Budget as Governor… So it would appear he did just fine managing our money. Carper, Biden and Kaufman I would agree with you.

    “Squeak, squeak.”

  27. on 30 Aug 2010 at 15:1627GeorgeC

    “Deny, Deny.”

  28. on 30 Aug 2010 at 20:1728Rick

‘Deny’ what? How long ago was he governor? How much of Bush’s drunken-sailor deficit-spending did he vote for?

  29. on 30 Aug 2010 at 23:2229GeorgeC

Deny that her house was foreclosed upon, that she is using campaign funds to pay her rent, that she didn’t win 2 counties in 2008, that she doesn’t have a college degree, that she is getting killed in the Polls and really anything else that doesn’t fit into Christine’s warped world.

Bush did not spend nearly as much as it appears when you consider the 2 wars we fought, the internet bubble burst he inherited from Clinton and the recession caused by 9/11.

Keep drinking the Kool Aid, I just hope she goes away after she loses on 9/14.

  30. on 31 Aug 2010 at 18:4630Rick
