Federal Stimulus Job Security for Artists

The Liberal, fainting over Joe Biden, News Journal is pleased that dollars from the Federal Stimulus pork barrel is coming to programs “that support the arts”. $80,000 will be coming from the National Endowment for the Arts to local organizations the Delaware Symphony and the Grand Opera House. I like Classical music and the “Delaware” Symphony plays at least once or twice a year outside of New Castle County. That over sold and never delivering white elephant, the Grand Opera House is very pretty and was once in a commercial for a furniture polish. I’m just not sure how these are considered “shovel ready” projects. I guess we should be grateful that these funds are not coming from Delaware taxpayers. After all it is free money if it comes from the Feds. Right !!??? $80,00 is chump change. The bulk of the Federal Stimulus money going to the arts is passing thru the Delaware Read more

Obama Science Czar urged Forced abortions and Mass Sterilizations in 1977 book

John Holdren Obanma’s Science Czar wrote a textbook published in 1977 that advocated extreme measures to avert the Population time bomb calamity that was about to consume the earth in the 20th century. In the 900 page tome “Ecoscience , Population, Resources, Environment, Holdren and fellow population control nut Paul Ehrlich, argue that the population crisis that was going to consume the earth was so imminent that certain measures should be considered such as: 1. Forced Abortions – page 837 “Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.” 2. Mass Sterilization thru the Water Supply – page 787-788 “Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion Read more

Md. GOP Chair might get the BOOT

There is a dust up in the Maryland Republican Party covered in this Washington Times piece. This article covers a lot of ground with a variety of potential hot button issues for party activists. At first glance, this is about either a: 1. Personnel Issue, 2. Fundraising or 3. Not standing up for a Republican Woman (This will get a party chairman in Hot Water REAL Quick) All of these topics are worthy of discussion. But based on recent events in Delaware I seized on this comment and complaint by Republican Maryland elected officials. “Maryland House Minority Leader Anthony J. O'Donnell and House Minority Whip Christopher B. Shank wrote to the party's executive committee last week, complaining about Mr. Pelura's criticism of Republican legislators' ineffectiveness. "It is simply unacceptable Read more

1st Take on 19th Senatorial

The race for the Thurman Adams Senate seat is officially joined now that the date of the Special Election has been set for August 3rd. On first take it would appear the Republicans hold the advantage nominating a known political quantity in Joe Booth whose solid conservative credentials fit the district like a glove. The response of most of the political class to the Democrat nominee was “Eddy who?" I hate to disappoint my Republican friends but this race will be no slam-dunk. We Republicans will have to bring our A game. Representative Joe Booth begins with better name recognition and a reputation as the kind of straight shooter that goes over well in Sussex. The Democrats however, hold certain advantages that could swing a close race. First is the candidate himself. Mr. Parker is thoughtful and articulate. He can make the favorable one on one impression that is so important in Read more

Washington Post caught with Panties Down

It was fun watching the Washington Post do their best imitation of Captain Renault from the movie Casablanca. “What, we are exposed trying to sell our influence in Washington??? Round up the usual suspects!!" In this case the usual suspects are in the business section of the Newspaper. Keep in mind folks there is one potential bogeyman in any news organization and this is the business section (or accountants or anyone interested in actually keeping the enterprise in business.) Whereas, The Newsroom folks are always lily pure and idealistic, the business guys on the other hand do all the really bad things at a newspaper, electronic network, TV or radio station etc. For those unfamiliar with the story here is the Politico post. As usual the talking heads are focused on only the most obvious aspects of the story and those aspects of the story that will clear the rabidly liberal Washington Read more

Happy 4th of July and Greetings to Delaware Politics

This is my first post and introduction to all. I am the guy David Anderson referred to as the Wiseman. While I appreciate Dave’s confidence I am a bit uncomfortable with that Nom de plume. (Some would suggest that wise guy is more appropriate.)  I have chosen to go with a pen name for employment reasons and my choice is family related. I have long ties to the Republican party and campaigns.  I will be posting regularly on topics State, Local, and National. I want to thank David Anderson for this opportunity. I wish all a Joyous 4th with the knowledge that we have our forefathers to thank for the opportunity to participate on this forum.
