At least these deals are in the open
Feb 23rd, 2010 by David Anderson
There are no more back room deals for health care reform. The President just included 80 billion in sweeteners for house members in the open.
The plan also raises taxes, usurps state’s rights, strips House protections against abortion funding, and increases government regulatory control. Then our President will wonder why no Republicans sign on.

Finally there will be no more screaming and teabagging of health care. Now Republicans have to put up or shut up in full public view. The merits of both sides will be heard in the court of public opinion. I am looking forward to hearing the Republican alternatives on Thursday.
You could have read them here about a year ago. The Republican bills are no secret.
This is nothing but a compromise between the socialist wing and the liberal wing of the Democrat party.
The criticisms of the GOP and health care are laughable. The President finally released his plan after 13 months in office yet the GOP is the problem?
Obama stupidly bypassed a D/R bill called Wyden/Bennett which would have passed easily.
If a building is on fire do you ask the fireman how he will rebuild the building before he puts out the fire? The Dem plan is bad and getting worse.

Now Republicans have to put up or shut up in full public view.
I hope so; most polls show that the American people are against BO’s nationalized healthcare.
If the Republicans had any brains (and guts), they would simply declare to the American people that there is a reason for being ‘the party of no’ in this situation. That there can be no compromise; that this debate transcends healthcare, that it is a question whose answer will determine the very future of the United States. Shall we remain a free-market capitalist state, a condition that made us the envy of the world, or shall we regress to the socialism that has turned Europeans into hapless wards of the omnipotent nanny-state?
America, do you really want to turn the best healthcare system in the world into the DMV?
If the Republicans had any brains (and guts)…
Looking forward to seeing Republican brains and guts on parade at the HCR conference tomorrow. By the end of the day everybody will know what Republicans are made of and what they want to do with our health care.
The sad part is that the GOP’s ideas have been out there for years and have been blocked by Dems. If instituted YEARS ago when many of these ideas were proposed, we would be looking at a lower deficit and MUCH lower healthcare costs. Then again, we wouldn’t have as many malpractice attorneys to choose from.
..will know what Republicans are made of and what they want to do with our health care.
Basically, other than a few tweaks, they want to leave it alone.
BO, on the other hand, wants to turn one-sixth of the economy- the best healthcare system in the world- into the DMV.
Rick…those few tweaks would save more money in individual healthcare costs than the entire Democrat destruction of the healthcare system…don’t forget to mention that.
To me, the key would be to eliminate the health insurance anti-trust exemption, and thus, introduce competition into the system. Run health insurance like auto insurance, with interstate competition; you’d soon see ads like GEICO, State Farm, Progressive and Allstate run- all inducing new customers by offering lower rates.
This is simple common sense; too bad there’s not much of that in Washiongton.
Oh I’m with you Rick. I am with you for sure. These are too simple for them to fix it in Washington. Then again, Obama is getting his rear end handed to him by Cantor, Boehner and the rest.
