Anthony Wedo Out
Feb 19th, 2010 by David Anderson
Dear Friends and Supporters,This letter is to formally announce that I will not seek the Republican nomination for the US House of Representatives in 2010.
It has been an honor and pleasure to meet with hundreds of you over the past few months. I have truly enjoyed our interaction and the forthright and candid discussions regarding the future of our country and party. As you all know, I speak from the heart about the issues we now face and so it has been incredibly motivating and humbling to receive the enormous amount of positive feedback and encouragement from so many of you. Though the response to our potential candidacy has been overwhelming it is also important to balance the needs of our party and my family.
Though I will not be pursuing elective office in 2010, I will be exploring ways to continue to learn about your concerns and issues and to provide my insights on how we can rebuild our party, state and our great country over the coming months.
My travels throughout our three counties have proved to me that we have much in common. I grew up on a farm in a rural small town, where my father never had less than two jobs and where my mother worked endlessly to make ends meet. This provided the foundation for my beliefs surrounding family values, hard work, determination and perseverance. As we all know, self reliance and personal responsibility are what have truly made this country great. Further, my 20 plus year business career has been focused on creating thousands of jobs by building companies from scratch and turning around failing businesses. History clearly tells us that the government doesn’t create real economic growth, jobs or long-term prosperity. Only the people taking charge of their own futures and investing in America can make that happen. As President Reagan said many times, government is the problem not the solution to prosperity; the larger government becomes the less personal freedom and liberty the people have to pursue their individual dreams.
I remain very concerned about the direction of our country and very passionate about finding ways to bring some common sense and fiscal sanity to Washington. Politics as usual must end. The time has come for all of us to stand up and be heard and for “citizen legislators” not professional politicians to go to Washington and take charge of our country’s future.
I look forward to being part of the future our party and our state and in supporting our outstanding candidates in 2010.
Best regards,
Tony
