Andy Reid: “Fire Me Already” (not actual quote)
Nov 17th, 2008 by RSmitty
What in the name of kissing sisters was that mess yesterday?
Sad thing is, in spite of the awful play calling of Andy Reid (58 passes against 17 running plays…in an OT game), McNabb is taking big heat for this debacle.
Excuse me!
Sorry you haters, McNabb isn’t the problem, at least not to the extent many claim he is. 75 plays, 58 are passing plays…WT-freaking-F?
I was for a long a time a Reid defender, but how can anyone be that anymore? He bring a good talent-evaluation ability in his large frame, but beyond that, I can’t say he has anything else anymore. Face it, Andy, on-field coaching appears to have passed you by and like my GOP, you have done nothing to adapt to the times.
75 plays, 58/17 passes/runs (psst…Andy…that is at 77.33% rate of passing plays).
Ever hear of Brian Westbrook? We know you have. Ever hear of Correll Buckhalter? We know you have. How about Lorenzo Booker? You traded for him!
Andy, please…step down, or step up(stairs), just step the hell out of the way. Do what you do best: take all of the blame. This time, take the responsibility and consequences, too.

As I heard them say on WIP today, this pretty much sums it up.
Andy Reid WAS a good coach. But it doesn’t look like he is anymore. It’s probably time to move on.
Donovan McNabb WAS a good quarterback. But he hasn’t looked like one lately. It may be time move on.
Personally I’d much rather see them keep McNabb and ditch Reid than the other way around. McNabb is still a talented player and if you actually give him a real running game to work with I think he’s still got potential to win games. Plus I’m not exactly convinced just yet that Kevin Kolb is going to be all that great. He could be, I really just don’t know.
Reid, however, is either in major denial, ridiculously stubborn, just plain stupid, or insane (perhaps some combination of all those). You can’t keep doing the same crap over and over again and expect different results. When the other team knows exactly what’s coming, even a 1-8 team NFL can beat you. Hell, some of the better college teams could probably beat the Eagles at this point. Execution is part of it, but when you know exactly what to expect it makes it that much easier to concentrate on execution.
Sometimes I’m honesly really tempted to just become a Ravens fan. That team seems like it’s on the upswing with the pride of UD Joe Flacco at QB. The Eagles are looking more and more like a sinking ship each week.
Yeah not McNabb’s fault…because you know those 3 int and ground balls he threw were Brady-esque. Throw both the bums out.
No crap, hater. Point is, the play calling is awful and there are almost no, if any, audibles due to what is said Reid’s stubborness is allowing anyone but himself to make offensive calls. Offensive they are indeed. What McNabb is at fault for is being loyal to Reid. He should go ahead and audible a handful and see what happens.
How about McScabb saying he didn’t know the overtime rules? WTF? Not sure if it would have made a difference but how does a veteran quarterback not know a simple rule like that? That’s sad and telling.
McScabb should know how to read the defense and change the play if necessary — although now that I think about it maybe the not-knowing of the OT rule is a snap-shot of the larger picture that McScabb is not all that intelligent. A great athelte does not make a great quarterback. Reid may already know this about McNabb which is why he doesn’t let him call plays.
I feel your pain on the tie – my hometown Steelers were involved in the last one (with the FALCONS, no less, back when they were still REAL bad).
Andy Reid is our new Rich Kottite.
Well, at least Kotite admitted that his team played not to lose. Reid doesn’t know WTF he makes his teams play for.
