A Fond Farewell, but hopefully not forever

Aug 15th, 2010 by David Anderson

UPDATE:  Delaware Tomorrow will be back in action according to founder Dave Burris as soon as life allows minus Mr. Stafford.

My friends at the popular blog Delaware Tomorrow seem to have suspended their operation.  I spoke at length this week to Mike Stafford who confirms that he is retiring from regular blogging.    I have invited him to guest post here when some issue really burns in his heart. I expect the first post will be after the primary.  That invitation also exists to Dave and Smitty.  I am hopeful that the blog will start up again (especially after the primary), and continue to be an innovative part of the public policy discussion.

I have made known some differences with them on some policies and candidates.  I stand by views as they stand by theirs.  I also stand by the respect that I have for those gentlemen.  They all have good careers.  They could all to varying degrees be comfortable with their families, but they put themselves out their with their real names, reputations, and careers on the line.  Why, because they are dedicated to seeing that Delaware’s tomorrow is better than today.  In that we have no differences.   I will miss the read for now.

That’s too bad. Seems like the slandering and accusations by some got a little too hot. Shame on whoever this was.

  2. on 15 Aug 2010 at 14:512Que Pasa

Additionally, I was always curious as to why much of the heated rhetoric on DT was aimed between fellow Conservatives, while the periodic liberal interlopers and the policies of the left (particularly those running for office at the local and statewide level) were left relatively untouched. Perhaps that is the ultimate root of their downfall; too much in-fighting rather than coalition building.

Part of me will miss the banter…won’t miss the hatred, slander and lies but the few times when that wasn’t an issue were interesting discussions on the direction of the country. I hope that in the end they will lend their incredible talents for writing to the cause of genuine conservatism and use their skills for good.

There was no downfall in fact at all, Que Pasa. All of DT’s bloggers are professional men who hold presigious jobs. Mr. Stafford’s wife just gave birth to their third child and no doubt their hands are full with life right now.

Certainly their was passionate and at times heated debate there, as there is here. There are primaries going on and supporters of all candidates are trying to drive support in any way they can.

“Part of me will miss the banter…won’t miss the hatred, slander and lies..”

Coming from the chief purveyor of hatred, slanders, and lies to the point that Rick Jensen was able to expose your BS, this is the most hilarious comment I have read here. David’s post was loaded with class. Your comment demonstrates just who the real hater is.

  6. on 16 Aug 2010 at 06:476LiberalGeek

TW – we are in agreement. I laughed when I read that comment.

Evan – The good news is that the hatred and lies will be there, wherever you go. May you be filled with self-loathing.

None of the DT team are men of merit, they do not have prestige in any setting. However, they are and will always be idiots.

Another failed Burris enterprise and Stafford never had a sound thought in his head, like amnesty for illegals.

The other part of the team keeps getting fatter everyday and can’t seem to pay his bills.

  8. on 16 Aug 2010 at 10:328Tennessee Walker

Unlike you who proposed in state tuition for illegal aliens????

  9. on 16 Aug 2010 at 10:349cookie

    Anon The Moron,
That’s right! You proposed instate tuition rates for illegal immigrants in 2008. You really are a Moron.

  10. on 16 Aug 2010 at 14:4710Que Pasa

They aren’t posting anymore, sounds like a downfall to me. Also, what ever happened to DE2010?

  11. on 16 Aug 2010 at 18:0211Dave Burris

Delaware Tomorrow is not closed. Wanda is off on his/her own and the rest of us are too busy at the moment with our primary careers to keep up the pace. Content will continue to be published on DT as soon as we have time to write it.

    Good to know DB.

DE2010 got so high one night they/he/she/it decided to eat the good ganja instead of smoke it, choked, keeled over and drowned in their/his/her/its own vomit.

Really, that blog read like a bunch of half-literate frat boys were running it. Who cares?
