A Bleak Future or Sacrifice Today

 Afghanistan is a very complicated country. It is a feudal federal republic. We cannot act as if Karzai is the only power. We have to do what we did in Iraq, which is work with the tribal leaders and the central government. It is about our national security and the peace of the world. Precipitous withdraw will end the Pax Americana and plunge the world into eventual disorder as terror cells grow and cause instability in at least 70 nations. The picture of the next 20 years will be one of terrorism, civil war, crackdowns, and oppression. First to go after Afghanistan will be Yemen, then Pakistan, then Somalia and Sudan will be ramped up as bases. There will be increased instability in Africa and the Middle East. Europe will be flooded with refugees. Among these mostly decent people will be terror cells. Europe will be in flames in 10 years. The Philippines will suffer terror attacks. Indonesia will be under assault. Some Island in that chain will become a base of instability in Asia. Eventually, they will become powerful enough to infiltrate us from all sides.
We will have to fight for our lives and freedom at far greater costs than a few hundred brave casualties and 30 billion dollars. President Obama is right. We have to win this one. We have to knock out this operation. Even stalemating it for 10 years is a victory because it stops it from the above and eventually defeats it. Withdraw allows it to claim victory which will flood it with recruits. The one thing keeping some from joining is that many believe it is a lost cause against a determined U. S.
In retrospect, some believe they challenged us too early. They gained a lot of ground until 9/11. If they had waited, they could have had several gulf states on the ropes, Egypt, Algeria, and caused instability in Indonesia and the Philippines. If they cause us to give up, it will show that they were right. Americans are too weak and will give up at a few loses. They will grow impatient in a protracted fight. I am not in agreement. I am in this for victory.
Defeating Communism took 45 years of determination. Defeating radical Islam will take at least 20. That is just the way it is. The longer we dither, the longer and more costly it will be.

No one expected the mujahedeen to beat the Russians in Afghanistan. It came as a surprise to everyone. What do you see as the future of American involvement in the Middle East, in taking on groups like this?
… Allah has granted the Muslim people and the Afghani mujahedeen, and those with them, the opportunity to fight the Russians and the Soviet Union. … They were defeated by Allah and were wiped out. There is a lesson here. The Soviet Union entered Afghanistan late in December of ’79. The flag of the Soviet Union was folded once and for all on the 25th of December just 10 years later. We are certain – with the grace of Allah – that we shall prevail over the Jews and over those fighting with them. Today however, our battle against the Americans is far greater than our battle was against the Russians. Americans have committed unprecedented stupidity. They have attacked Islam and its most significant sacrosanct symbols … . We anticipate a black future for America. Instead of remaining United States, it shall end up separated states and shall have to carry the bodies of its sons back to America.
What do you see as the future of the Saudi royal family and their involvement with America and the US military?
History has the answer to your question. The fate of any government which sells the interests of its own people and, betrays the nation and commits offenses which furnish grounds for expulsion from Islam, is known. We expect for the ruler of Riyadh the same fate as the Shah of Iran. We anticipate this to happen to him and to the influential people who stand by him and who have sided with the Jews and the Christians giving them free reign over the land of the two Holy Mosques. These are grave offenses that are grounds for expulsion from the faith. They shall all be wiped out. …
Describe the situation when your men took down the American forces in Somalia.
After our victory in Afghanistan and the defeat of the oppressors who had killed millions of Muslims, the legend about the invincibility of the superpowers vanished. Our boys no longer viewed America as a superpower. So, when they left Afghanistan, they went to Somalia and prepared themselves carefully for a long war. They had thought that the Americans were like the Russians, so they trained and prepared. They were stunned when they discovered how low was the morale of the American soldier. America had entered with 30,000 soldiers in addition to thousands of soldiers from different countries in the world. … As I said, our boys were shocked by the low morale of the American soldier and they realized that the American soldier was just a paper tiger. He was unable to endure the strikes that were dealt to his army, so he fled, and America had to stop all its bragging and all that noise it was making in the press after the Gulf War in which it destroyed the infrastructure and the milk and dairy industry that was vital for the infants and the children and the civilians and blew up dams which were necessary for the crops people grew to feed their families. Proud of this destruction, America assumed the titles of world leader and master of the new world order. After a few blows, it forgot all about those titles and rushed out of Somalia in shame and disgrace, dragging the bodies of its soldiers. America stopped calling itself world leader and master of the new world order, and its politicians realized that those titles were too big for them and that they were unworthy of them. I was in Sudan when this happened. I was very happy to learn of that great defeat that America suffered, so was every Muslim. …
I have said many times, the effort in Afghanistan is doomed with the current leadership here in the US and there.
Here at home I make the prediction that the KSM trial will be the sideshow the Obama people want to obscure the failures of the half way measures obama will propose. The open trial will give the Obama people the standing to dredge up the past, prosecute Cheney and others while doing nothing to stabilize the Afghan effort. That is the reasons behind the KSM civilian trial. It will give Obama cover for his Drone attacks which are assassinations.
There in Afghanistan I do not favor more troops, I want Al Qaeda contained but I do not share any concern for the nation of Afghanistan where we are indirectly paying Taliban to guarantee cargo movements on the ground.

You have to distinguish between the tribal leaders who allied with them at one point and the Taliban. They are very different. The current government is not the primary factor in determining victory. It is cooperating with us. Enough that we are far along in training and equiping over 300K police and troops. That is far more than defeated the Taliban in 2001. It will take another year or two to put it all together so let’s quit. Let’s whine about how it is not perfect. Well it is a whole lot better than any government their in the last 500 years, my friend.
I updated the post with Bin Laden’s own words and have another post which shows that we helped create this mess so in mho we need to adult up and solve it.
The British failed, the Russians failed and we’ll fail. Ever try to put a whirlpool into a shoebox? It can’t be done.
