39 Years of Shame

Jan 26th, 2012 by David Anderson

Recently, America suffered a tragic anniversary, the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. What can one say that has not been said?

America is suffering from a deficit problem. Sure you know about the financial issues, but that is not the deficit of which I speak. This deficit is costing us everyday in ways that many deny. We have a moral deficit. 50 million helpless children have been brutally killed. Many were ripped limb from limb. Others were chemically burned. Still others were savagely poisoned. Yet, others were partially born and killed inches from life. There is no pretty way to talk about abortion truthfully. Abortion is an intrinsic evil eating away at the souls of a great people.  It is never okay.  It is a savage expression of domination of one’s convenience over the life of another for money.

Abortion is a root of all kinds of evil.  Child abuse is up.  Those who survive the womb are at greater risk in a world where children are only cherished by choice not right.  Self destructive behavior is up.  Suicide, substance abuse, and other destructive behaviors are at all time highs.  The very definitions of morality, family, and spirituality are under assault.   Once a higher morality is rejected, it is open season on the pillars of community and civilization.

The late Mother Theresa said, “The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts–a child–as a competitor, an intrusion and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the dependent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And, in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners.

Mother Theresa also pointed out “The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.”

There in the solution to our deficit.  We need to return to the old pathways which made us a great people.  We need to turn our hearts to GOD and open our hand to our fellow man.  Life is a gift from our creator.  It is our practice stage for eternity.  We will live then like we train today.  Will we live in a heavenly place or a hell of our own making?  We are judged by how we treat those in need of our love, the sick, the poor, the child seeking love and indeed life itself.  On that score, we are running a deficit.

GOD put in each heart a cry.  The cry of the heart first says I want to live, then it says I want to dream, and finally I don’t want to die.  The cry of the heart is evidence of the special nature of the human spirit.  We are more than self aware.  We are eternal beings seeking meaning.  We cannot find that meaning without each other or without our Creator.  We are designed to live and dream.  When we deprive that of our progeny, we are severing ourselves from our own humanity.  50 plus million beating hearts have been stopped by our selfish cruelty.  Enough is enough.  America is better than abortion.  Humanity is better than this.  Stop abortion now.

“America is suffering from a deficit problem.”

The moral deficit epidemic in America will cost us far more than the current economics problems we are having. History proves, when a civilization decays morally, it eventually declines and becomes inconsequential as an entity.
Sanctity of life is one of the cornerstones of civilized society. Abortion, which is serial infanticide is a stain on civilized America. It set a president for other countries that look upon America as a leader.

America is better than abortion. Humanity is better than this.

I’m not sure. It may be that Lady Liberty looks like a old Whore these days, metaphorically speaking. After all, the truth in these matters has been known for some time. People can no longer imagine that what is self-evident based on observation and knowledge is not so. For example, this old video shows the child in the womb at peace and sucking their thumb until their peace is violated by an “imposition” and they squirms away as the values of someone else are violently “inflicted” upon them. Link It’s about 15 minutes into it. The person who made the video:

(Dr. Bernard Nathanson had lobbied for legalized abortion in 1968 and later opened his own clinic. He changed his mind about the nature of abortion when technologies such as ultrasound and cordocentesis (taking the unborn child’s blood to diagnose illness) led him to examine his view more closely.
“There was nothing religious about it,” Nathanson said, “This was purely a change of mind as a result of this fantastic technology.”

Apparently this is one type of infliction and victimization that Leftist memes care little about. If a local representative of the public prays in front of a child, that is to be imagined to be a sort of violent “infliction” and quite an imposition too. This is imagined to be the case to the point that the federal government needs to establish atheism or agnosticism in local communities and so on to keep people safe from being imposed on.

Yet who are the victims in reality these days?

  3. on 27 Jan 2012 at 08:133mynym

It’s interesting to note that Leftist creation myths have included vague imagery with respect to the unborn for some time. In fact, the pseudo-science of Haeckel’s fraudulent drawings/images of embryos was “established” in textbooks long past the time that they were known based on empirical observations to be false. It seems that those who become “vain in their imaginations” almost invariably engage in indoctrination instead of education and begin to form an alliance with government/coercion. These new priests of knowledge will not be separated from the state even if what they imagine of people is pseudo-science.

The core scientific issue remains unchanged: Haeckel’s drawings of 1874 are substantially fabricated. In support of this view, I note that his oldest fish image is made up of bits and pieces from different animals some of them mythical. It is not unreasonable to characterize this as faking. … Sadly, it is the discredited 1874 drawings that are used in so many British and American biology textbooks today.(M.K. Richardson, Haeckel’s Embryos, Continued, letter to Science 281(5381):1289, 28 August 1998)

Once ensconced in textbooks, misinformation becomes cocooned and effectively permanent, because, as stated above, textbooks copy from previous texts. ….
We should therefore not be surprised that Haeckel’s drawings entered nineteenth-century textbooks. But we do, I think, have the right to be both astonished and ashamed by the century of mindless recycling that has led to the persistence of these drawings in a large number, if not a majority, of modern textbooks!
    Abscheulich!
    by Stephen Jay Gould Link

This is the sort of pseudo-science that doctors are being taught and we’re surprised that many imagine embryos to be less than human?

  4. on 27 Jan 2012 at 08:254mynym

…I note that his oldest fish image is made up of bits and pieces from different animals some of them mythical.

And yet Leftist creation myths are still being promoted as the equivalent of science and while criticism is “separated” as the equivalent of religion, which is imagined to be the epistemic equivalent of superstition by many. Yet notice what the superstitions and idolatry typical to nature based paganism seem to be linked to, especially when they are allowed to pass as the equivalent of science:

I remember vividly a scene during a school picnic when I stood surrounded by a group of schoolboys to whom I expounded the gospel of Darwinism as Haeckel saw it. Goldschmidt claims that his experience of embracing this Darwinian worldview…was typical for educated young people of his day, and abundant testimony from his contemporaries confirms this. In 1921 the physiologist Max Verworn stated, “One can state without exaggeration that no scientist has exercised a greater influence on the development of our contemporary worldview than Haeckel.”
(From Darwin to Hitler: Evolutionary Ethics, Eugenics and Racism in Germany by Richard Weikart :11)

The contribution of the actual scientific tradition to this ethos was exemplified by the quintessentially German figure of Ernst Haeckel, that formidable biologist and convert to Darwinism who combined with ardent advocacy of the Volk and romantic nationalism, racial regeneration, and anti-Semitism. He was to become what Daniel Gasman has called ‘Germany’s major prophet of political biology.’
(The Nazi Doctors: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide by Robert Jay Lifton :441)

The reasonable individual should ask, if established priests of knowledge these days can justify tearing human embryos limb from limb based on imagining things about them then what if they begin imagining things about you too? What if they began to imagine you as an animal and so on? I suspect that more individuals would develop an interest in the truth of things at that point. Imagine that!

Life is the womb is the essence of innocence and should be protected. For those who seek abortion on demand without exception please go to the local elementary school and please point out to me which of these children are ‘expendable’.

    David,

Thank you for your eloquent defense of life.

I noticed the media ignored, by and large, the 500,000 people who marched in protest against Roe v. Wade.

And, further, our own president, who as a senator repeatedly voted against saving babies fortunate enough to have survived an attempt to abort them, marked the anniversary with this statement:

“As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right. While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue, no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, reduce the need for abortion, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption. And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill our dreams.”

    Parse that last sentence!

  7. on 27 Jan 2012 at 13:407mynym

As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom…

What he is actually protecting is his political power and consequently the power of the federal government. It is a mistake to think that politicians care more about your health and freedom than you do. Although at some level it does seem like Obama is a true believer in health and freedom being based on sacrificing future generations. As I recall, there was a time when he was the only corrupt politician to stand and speak against passing a law to protect infants born alive. The others were probably corrupt too… but apparently not that corrupt.

…but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.

That’s ironic. It seems to me that he believes that the federal government has the power to intrude on almost anything. Whether it’s state governments or even forcing individuals to buy things or whatever else. This sort of fellow only seems to be his brothers keeper when his brother doesn’t want him to be. When the least of these are trying to squirm away from being sucked to pieces and seem to want their health and freedom to be protected, that’s above his pay grade. But for everyone else, he cares more about your health than you do. In fact, he’ll protect you and “Obamacare” you to death.

  8. on 27 Jan 2012 at 13:428Nitpicker

The shareholders of Blue Cross visit me regularly to ask how I’m doing, since they care so much about my health.

  9. on 27 Jan 2012 at 13:489David Anderson

Not to nitpick, but Blue Cross is a mutual company owned by the participants for now.

  10. on 27 Jan 2012 at 14:0810mynym

Apparently he can save and create jobs, knows what type of services you should be forced to buy, knows how to care for your health, knows what cars people should buy and so on. He will “intrude” on all of those sorts of things and yet he cannot bring himself to protect “the least of these” from the “intrusion” of being torn apart in the womb.

Note this: …that government should not intrude on private family matters.

Yet apparently it’s not really a family issue:
Voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
    ….
    Proponents recommend voting YES because:
This bill deals with how young girls are being secretly taken across State lines for the purpose of abortion, without the consent of their parents or even the knowledge of their parents, in violation of the laws of the State in which they live. 45 states have enacted some sort of parental consent laws or parental notification law. By simply secreting a child across State lines, one can frustrate the State legislature’s rules. It is subverting and defeating valid, constitutionally approved rights parents have.

Ironically, note where Leftist memes with respect to “the least of these” come from:

All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.
“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? …. The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
    “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

But I guess it’s all good if Alinsky was right to imagine good things like forms of social union and solidarity in hell… too bad he wasn’t right about much. Anyway, I’m not sure why so many people who reject central aspects of the thinking of Jesus (crazy ideas about other worlds, angels, global floods, etc.) so often want to cite him as an authority too.

  12. on 27 Jan 2012 at 15:0512mynym

In other words, if Jesus wasn’t right about anything He said there except the “least of these “part then why bother citing Him as an authority?

“Not to nitpick, but Blue Cross is a mutual company owned by the participants for now.”

Typical inability of Nitpicker to actually gather facts.

Well said my friend. To those who condone abortion, I ask you, what if your mother had chosen to abort you? Guess you wouldn’t have to deal with all the loveless acts that have been committed against you and those you have chosen to ignore. God help you and bring you peace.

  15. on 28 Jan 2012 at 12:5115Michael P. Borgia

The government should not intrude on private familly issues. Well, look at it this way. If a mother strangles her one hour old baby, that’s murder and society would be appalled. She would be tried and convicted of first degree murder and spend the rest of her life in prison. She could possibly be executed.

Had the same mother murdered the same baby two hours earlier, there are those among us who would say its a private family matter, the government should stay out of the bedroom. She has the right to choose. That kind of hypocrisy and society’s sad willingness to tolerate it is how the American Holocaust continues on.

By the way, I love that little leftist bit about “keeping government out of the bedroom.” For the record, no abortion ever takes place in a bedroom. They happen in butcher shops, known by the anticeptic name “family planning clinics.”

Lastly to those of you who are “pro choice”, first call yourself what you are…pro abortion. Secondly, have the spine to begin the debate with one unassailable truth. Every abortion ends a human life, and permanently damages another.
