3 Days that Changed the World
Apr 3rd, 2010 by David Anderson
As I was reflecting on the Holy season, I thought about the Apostles. The Apostles experienced three days which are representative of the the three stages of grace. The First was the day of Crisis, the second was the day of despair and disillusionment, the third was the New Beginning and the Day of Triumph. The LORD rose on the first day of the week, because the day of grace is always the day of your new beginning. Even the finality of death is broken by the greatness of grace.
On the first day, there was the shock of Judas’ betrayal. That was only the beginning. Our LORD was taken away for three show trials. They had the form of the law, but were as empty as a hallow egg shell. Two of the trials found no evidence of any crime, but they refused to stop the injustice. Instead of justice, Pilate turned it on its head and allowed a lynch mob to determine the outcome. He was beaten and executed in the most cruel manner developed, crucifixion. The disciples were completely shaken. Judas the betrayer, was so remorseful that he killed himself. The others dealt with grief, fear, and confusion. They followed the events from afar except for John and Peter. Peter was recognized and denied even knowing the LORD. John couldn’t separate himself from the cross and comforted the blessed mother in the midst of his own grief.
On the second day, the disciples fell into despair. The leaders who had orchestrated the execution remembered the prophecy of Resurrection, but the disciples were in such depression that they only knew their world had ended. All seemed lost. The man that they had put their hope in had died. They had no hope.
The third day was the day of triumph. The GOD of grace had been working in the unseen world a great victory. He had taken victory of death, sin, and the divide between GOD and Man. Now it was time to make it known to us. He offered up the payment for sin in the heavens and came back to us. He revealed Himself to the faithful and gave us a great promise. He said, because I live, you shall live also. He broke down the wall that separated us from an Holy GOD with the cross and made from it a bridge of grace. Every day can now be a new beginning. It can be the first day of creation. That is your becoming a new creation with old things passing away and everything being made new.
That is what I celebrate. I invite you to do so as well. Happy Resurrection Day from Delaware Politics.
Christianity is about paradoxes. Victory begins paradoxically with surrender. He loved those who hated Him so they could love. Eternal life began with death. True reality is not that which is seen but that which is unseen. The reality of faith is one which transcends the reality of fact. Let today be the day of new beginnings. Submit to Him to be exalted. Surrender to Him so that you can know true victory.
