DE Governor Comments on SCOTUS Decision

The Office of Delaware Governor,Jack Markell has issued the following statement re: SCOTUS decision to let the Delaware Elections Disclosure Act stand: “In 2012, I was proud to work alongside Speaker Bob Gilligan, Common Cause of Delaware, and many others to enact the first major update to Delaware campaign finance laws in 20 years. The Delaware Elections Disclosure Act closed loopholes that allowed anonymous campaign-related advertising and required prompt reporting of third-party spending on campaign ads. I am gratified today that the constitutionality of that law has been reaffirmed. Thanks to the Supreme Court’s decision, Delaware elections in the future will be more open and transparent.” More information about the Delaware Elections Disclosure Act is available here: Read more

Trump Denounces Mexico’s Trade Practices

Donald J. Trump has issued the following statement on Mexico's trade policies: As America struggles to keep jobs at home, Mexico is acting unfairly to promote their own country's products. Mexico removed their tariffs to become NAFTA-compliant, but enacted a value-added tax on imports to have their products remain competitive. This tax acts as a backdoor tariff to impede the export of American goods into Mexico. Mexico has since raised their value-added tax on American exports from 11 percent to 16 percent, furthering the decline of American manufacturing and hastening the arrival of American companies moving south of the border to stay profitable. Mexico Removed Tariffs To Pass NAFTA, But Enacted A Value-Added Tax On Imports To Remain Competitive To Become Compliant With NAFTA, Mexico Eliminated All Tariffs On Industrial And Agricultural Exports From The United States. Expanding Access to High-Quality Early Learning Programs : Delaware Governor Jack A. Markell Weekly Message The first few years of a child’s life are crucial to his or her success. That’s why one of our top goals has been giving all Delaware families access to high-quality early learning programs and why I made early childhood funding one of my top budget priorities this year. It supports social and emotional development, helps even the playing field for children across socio-economic levels, and puts all kids on the path to meeting their full potential. The efforts of state leaders, advocates, and, most importantly, teachers and other staff are paying off. Today, more than 70 percent of low-income children are enrolled in our highest quality pre-schools, up from 5 percent in 2011. More than 120 programs now receive the highest rating of 5 Stars, up from just 24 in 2012. And Read more

Rubio Looks Strong, Republicans May Hold Senate

Senator Marco Rubio has a 8 point lead in the Senate race versus has likely Democratic opponents and a reported 50 point lead in the primary race. His kick off was successful and anchors good news for Republicans in the tight Senate races. Democrats need to pick up 5 seats. Republicans were trailing the Democrats in Florida. Now they are leading. Neighboring Pennsylvania was supposed to be close, Pat Toomey had the great fortune of the Democrats backing a hack they could control over the stronger candidate, Adm. Joe Sestak. He is up 9 points and polling near that magic majority. North Carolina is too close but looks like a Republican hold as well. New Hampshire is too close to call. Ohio is tied, but people don't like Strickland and he is likely polling near his ceiling while oddly Portman is still unknown by 1 of 3 voters after 6 years in the Senate. Nevada is a toss up and may Read more

BREXIT and the DOMINO Theory

*** COMMENTARY *** By: Wolf von Baumgart Many who grew up the the 1950s, '60s and '70s still remember the quasi-ubiquitous conventional Cold War Domino Theory that if one country fell to Communism, all the rest would successively fall like a stack of dominoes. That mindset was a major factor in US involvement in the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict and its aftermath until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. The globalist paradigm of trans-national organization, centralization, cultural homogenization and “open borders” emerged in late 1945 at the dawn of the post-WW2 era out of the ashes of excessive nationalism. The political ideologies of imperialism, Bolshevism / Communism, Fascism, National Socialism, terrorism, etc., coupled with abuse of state power on a massive scale, killed over 200 million people in the last Century and gave greater rise to a corporate/bureaucratic Read more

Trump and Clinton Comment on Brexit Vote

DONALD J. TRUMP STATEMENT REGARDING BRITISH REFERENDUM ON E.U. MEMBERSHIP The people of the United Kingdom have exercised the sacred right of all free peoples. They have declared their independence from the European Union and have voted to reassert control over their own politics, borders and economy. A Trump Administration pledges to strengthen our ties with a free and independent Britain, deepening our bonds in commerce, culture and mutual defense. The whole world is more peaceful and stable when our two countries – and our two peoples – are united together, as they will be under a Trump Administration. Come November, the American people will have the chance to re-declare their independence. Americans will have a chance to vote for trade, immigration and foreign policies that put our citizens first. They will have the chance to reject today’s rule by the global elite, Read more

Pot Legalization is Common Sense

I have long favored refocusing drug efforts on hard drugs. The reason we are losing the war on drugs is that we are trying to keep people from getting high. When we go after prescription drugs and marijuana, it diverts valuable resources from the dangerous drugs. If you take away people's options, they will go for the greater high. If you allow a safety value, most people want to avoid illegal options. Therefore we should focus on something other than ruining lives and filling our prisons at a great cost to taxpayers, families, and our economy. The state is moving in that direction with decriminalization. Decriminalization is the worst of both worlds. If you are going to legalize and regulate do it. Don't go half way. I wrote this in response to the Decriminalization bill. It is just as true today. It is stupid to give someone a criminal record for smoking marijuana. It is Read more

Bonini Goes Bannanas For Pot

Bonini announces on the senate floor, he is in favor of legalizing marijuana. After announcing on the senate floor, that marijuana should be made legal in Delaware, he stated that he would co-sponsor legislation to legalize marijuana if asked. This action would be a first for a GOP gubernatorial candidate in Delaware. The leftward drift of Delaware's GOP has been apparent to many for years and could be construed as a vain attempt to engage soft democrats and unaffiliated independents to their ranks. Delaware's GOP has seriously followed the national GOP's leftward drift causing a split in conservative ideology with the more conservative and growing "Tea Party groups." In recent elect election cycles, Delaware's GOP has repudiated and even campaigned against so-called Tea Party candidates. The rift has seriously splintered Delaware's Republican Party with nasty infighting and rancor. Read more

Brexit Defeat for Globalism and Bureaucracy

The People of Great Britain voted almost 52% to 48% to leave the Bureaucratic European Union. The EU is in trouble. The rumbling is starting in Italy, France and elsewhere. European Markets will be shaken, but in the long run Britain is a place to be. British and American Markets look to be down but not as much as Europe. The globalists are in a panic and already trying to figure out the next 20 moves to mitigate the vote. Globalism is declining in popularity worldwide. Their big fear has to be losing here in America this November. The vote was a victory for Democracy over Bureaucracy in the place that started the modern movement a thousand years ago. It was a vote for national self determination over the bureaucrats determining everything. It was a vote to control a nation's borders over open borders. The future looks bright, but self determination means the right to make Read more

Self Inflicted Wounds: City of Dover Moves to Destroy Successful Economic Development Operation

All was going great at the budget hearings until a series of motions by Tim Slavin. If we can't stop this train before the budget passes, it will abolish the economic development department which will risk jobs, business training and money invested here. Business people are using terms like crazy to describe this move. Downtown Merchants used the word trepidation. I say that it is temporary insanity. We have been the most successful that we have been in decades downtown, at the Garrison Technical Park and beating national trends. Now that things are working, let's change. Let's not change with forethought and structure, let's change and form a committee to figure out how to put together the pieces we are about to break. Call now or put our economy at risk. People are complaining but not all to the right people. The other councilmen have avoided recent business gatherings. Read more

No Fly List Sham, how about a no corruption list?

Maybe we should have a corruption watchlist. If you are under investigation for misuse of office or breaching national security by the FBI, you can't run for office. Of course that would be absurd, it would violate the presumption of innocence, if you can't even meet the low bar of arrest or indictment, why should a mere investigation stop someone from exercising their Constitutional rights? Would that not open the door to political prosecutions? I would love to see Hillary Clinton dropped, but that would be wrong. Look at poor Tom Delay. House Republicans put in a rule that if you are under indictment you can't be in leadership. What happen? A Democrat prosecutor, who hated him, made up a creative indictment so that he would be removed. He was innocent. Did Democrats support Bill Clinton's removal based upon the Star Report? The Delay case was most interesting because it was Read more

I am Not a Trump Fan, but the nonsense outrage about his reimbursing his corporations is bogus. It’s the law.

All of a sudden following the law is a scandal. The Press is either dishonest or dumb. As one who has been a senior staffer on Congressional campaigns and a state coordinator for 2 Presidential candidates as well as a local officeholder, let me explain why he did it right. Trump funded his own campaign--mostly, therefore, the money he put in was his. Federal law allows him to put as much as he desires into his own campaign with no campaign contribution limits. He saved money by using properties owned by his corporations. However, the corporations are viewed as different entities than Trump. Trump would have problems and have to prove that he and his wife owns them 100% which he may not because his children may own shares. Otherwise it could be an illegal contribution. If he rents the property or reimburses his flights, it is unlimited. Sure by the public view, Trump is paying himself, Read more

Government Records Should Not be Propaganda Tools

911 Transcript Edits Blowback Force Release of Unedited Transcripts The administration backed off from its indefensible editing of the 911 transcript of the Orlando shooter to remove references to Islam or ISIS. They claim that they were attempting to deny him a propaganda victory. In reality, they were engaging in propaganda over history themselves. The administration doesn't respect the historical record. We see them revising Gitmo detainee assessments to allow release. They revised the intelligence assessments on Iran to hide information before the vote on the nuclear deal. They edit videos of press briefings. They claimed that Benghazi was about a video so they would not have to explain an Al Qaeda attack 6 weeks before the 2012 election. They withheld IRS files on the investigation into denying nonprofit status for political reasons. They withheld records in the Fast and Read more

Globalism Or Liberty

A Nation Must Decide Who would not be faint of heart as the world is forced toward the slavery of a "New World Order," or Globalism, if you will Already America's socialist leadership would have foreign United Nation troops policing American citizens. Weak leadership within the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate has sold Americans into economic slavery to feather their own nests. Have we become a nation of cowards that would not defend what our Founding Fathers won for us? Is this truly the last generation of free Americans? Those Americans that espouse Globalism only seek to create a world two-class system of totalitarian world government that would keep all but a small super-elite class in continual power, while the bulk of the world becomes enslaved and under-educated Why then, would our Founding Fathers include the Second Amendment, that states, "A well regulated Read more

Ensuring the Rights and Safety of All Delawareans and Americans By: Delaware Governor, Governor Jack A. Markell Last Sunday, Delawareans and Americans across the country awoke to the horrifying and tragic news of the worst mass shooting in the nation’s history – a crime that the President appropriately called “an act of terror and an act of hate.” Victims were largely from the LGBT community.  To Delaware’s LGBT community, we stand with you.  To Camp Rehoboth and Haven at University of Delaware, thank you for standing strong and providing comfort.  We will remain vigilant to ensure protections against discrimination remain strong and undeniable. To Delaware’s Muslim community: thank you for speaking out against the perpetrator of this murder and for making it clear that your community stands strong against this perversion of your religion.  We will not impose religious Read more

Why Women Should Not Be Drafted

The U. S. Senate wants women to register for the Selective Service just like men do. It makes sense because the only reason the High Court gave for not drafting women was that they were not allowed into combat when the draft was challenged during the Vietnam war. There is another reason not discussed because it is not politically correct. A draft should be about national survival. We should not compel people into a war unless it is necessary for national survival. While everyone is important, a nation can survive the mass loss of its young men but not of its young women. Women of child bearing age are vital to the continuation of a nation. You can allow multiple spouses for a time to replenish a population, but that would not work if you lose massive numbers of young women. Frankly, we cannot afford to put millions and millions of young women in combat. Women who are properly Read more

What should we do to stop the Terrorists?

What does America need to do about terrorism? I don't know all of the answers, but I do have some positive suggestions. I absolutely reject the idea that people should have their rights suspending because they have the wrong name or religion and some bureaucrat put them on some list with a bad sounding name. Terror watchlist means that we have no evidence even to arrest you. Obviously, no rights should be suspended nor can be. Do you want to suspend first amendment rights too? There is room for compromise. If someone is on the list, the FBI should know and have a day to respond before someone on the list (or use up to 3 days available under law if necessary). If you ban them from getting it, you alert them that they are being watched which they may not have known. They may go underground or use alternative weapons. There is no violation of rights or due process to vet someone Read more

Trump Addresses Terrorism, Immigration, and National Security:

The TRUMP 2016 Campaign has released the following statement re: terrorism, immigration and national security:

Today, Donald J. Trump spoke at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. During his speech, Mr. Trump took strong positions to protect and defend all Americans from hate and violence, to strengthen homeland security by renewing intelligence-gathering and supporting law enforcement, to conduct a full and long overdue security assessment and enact a common sense, mainstream immigration policy that promotes American values. The transcript of the remarks can be viewed via the link below.

What the President Missed

We are all Americans. We pray for the victims of the nightclub shooting. Today we are not gay or straight. What do I mean? I mean that we do not tolerate our fellow Americans being targeted for whatever reason. I mean we one against Islamic terrorists who think murder and terror are tools for change. We are at war. It is not a gun control problem. I bet if it were a country bar, the shooter would not have killed as many. It is silly to use this to advance a social agenda. ISIS wants to wipe out homosexuals as their next target. We need to join together and defeat them both there and restore the intelligence sharing between federal and local law enforcement. This terrorist seemed to hate everyone. We need to love everyone. We need to resist social balkanization. Our nation is growing weaker partially because we no longer value our diversity. We use it as a weapon to gain Read more

President Comments on Orlando Massacre

The WHITE HOUSE has issued the following statement on last night's mass killing in Orlando, FL. "Today, as Americans, we grieve the brutal murder -- a horrific massacre -- of dozens of innocent people. We pray for their families, who are grasping for answers with broken hearts. We stand with the people of Orlando, who have endured a terrible attack on their city. Although it is still early in the investigation, we know enough to say that this was an act of terror and act of hate. And as Americans, we are united in our grief, our outrage and our resolve to defend our people. "I just finished a meeting with FBI Director Comey and my homeland security and national security advisors. The FBI is on the scene and leading the investigation, in partnership with local law enforcement. I've directed that the full resources of the federal government be made available for this investigation. "We're Read more

Donald Trump Comments on Orlando Terrorism

DONALD J. TRUMP has issued the following STATEMENT REGARDING TRAGIC TERRORIST ATTACK IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA Last night, our nation was attacked by a radical Islamic terrorist. It was the worst terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11, and the second of its kind in 6 months. My deepest sympathy and support goes out to the victims, the wounded, and their families. In his remarks today, President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam'. For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency. If we do not get tough and smart real fast, we are not going to have a country anymore. Because our leaders are weak, I said this was going to happen – and it is only going to get worse. I am trying to save lives and prevent the next terrorist Read more

Hilary Clinton Comments on Orlando Mass Killing

Hillary Clinton Statement on Orlando Terrorist Attack In response to the terrorist attack last night at an Orlando gay nightclub Hillary Clinton released the following statement: “I join Americans in praying for the victims of the attack in Orlando, their families and the first responders who did everything they could to save lives. “This was an act of terror. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are hard at work, and we will learn more in the hours and days ahead. For now, we can say for certain that we need to redouble our efforts to defend our country from threats at home and abroad. That means defeating international terror groups, working with allies and partners to go after them wherever they are, countering their attempts to recruit people here and everywhere, and hardening our defenses at home. It also means refusing to be intimidated and staying true to our Read more
