NSA Spying On Americans a 46 Year Affair

In 1967, President Lyndon Johnson took domestic spying to a new level that even Hoover's FBI didn't travel. He ordered the NSA to wiretap Senators Frank Church-D and Howard Baker-R. They were not alone, the list grew to 1600 people including journalists, civil rights leaders, and war critic boxer, Muhammed Ali. Now the technology is so advanced that the 150,000 communiques intercepted in this program seem like small potatoes. ] A free people do not lose that freedom immediately, it is chipped away piece by piece until one day you ask, What ever happened to liberty we once knew? From Lawfare The Minaret program, which lasted from 1967 to 1973, was a surveillance program aimed at intercepting the telegrams and phone calls of critics of the war in Vietnam. As the NSA history documents, With FBI as the prime source of names, NSA began expanding the watch list to include domestic Read more

Little Miss Hispanic Delaware Not Documented Enough?

Don't take this wrong, but am I alone in seeing the irony of disqualifying a 7 year old girl from her rightful crown because her parents could not get the documents from her grandmother who arrived her as an ahem--undocumented resident. We (myself included) would be up in arms if this American girl were denied some benefit because her deceased grandmother was an illegal alien. Latino groups tell us that we need to pass the Dream Act to give full citizenship to children brought here without documentation because it was not their fault. (I support that if the Dream Children do not have chain migration rights or else you reward people who break the law--the parents of the Dream Children.) People who raise questions are condemned as -- you know the drill. It seems it is do as I say not as I do. I guess the Hispanic Community is just like the rest of us. The next time someone is called Read more

Twenty-five Republican Turncoats In The Senate

After Ted Cruz' patriotic unofficial filibuster in the US Senate in support of a House Bill to defund Obamacare, these 25 Republican US Senators voted along with the Democrats to fund the atrocity of Obamacare (itself, having previously subverted the US Constitution) and dump the American Citizens they swore to represent: Alexander (R-TN) Ayotte (R-NH) Barrasso (R-WY) Blunt (R-MO) Boozman (R-AR Burr (R-NC) Chambliss (R-GA) Chiesa (R-NJ) Coats (R-IN) Coburn (R-OK) Cochran (R-MS) Collins (R-ME) Corker (R-TN) Cornyn (R-TX) Graham (R-SC) Hoeven (R-ND) Isakson (R-GA) Johanns (R-NE) Johnson (R-WI) Kirk (R-IL) McCain (R-AZ) McConnell (R-KY) Murkowski (R-AK) Thune (R-SD) Wicker (R-MS) They would defend themselves by protesting that the bill would pass the House anyway, but there is much to be said about holding the line on principle. They voted Read more

UN Doubles Down on Global Warming

It is now 95% certain that 50% of global climate change is man made. In the meantime, the Arctic Ice returns and Antarctic Ice hits a 35 year high. “Why would sea ice be increasing? Although the rate of increase is small, it is a puzzle to scientists stated the Washington Post blog. At a time when Chinese and Russian scientists produce devastating rebuttals to the UN "Consensus". Most people agree that we are contributing to climate change to some degree, but is that bad? The results are delaying a new cooling cycle, increased crop yields, and a generally more livable planet with higher life expectancy and less human suffering. There are natural forces that matter far more than what we contribute, but acknowledging that does not give power to the Fabian Eco Socialists to impoverish and control us. Read more

Will Democrats Cause A Government Shutdown, Then Blame Republicans

House Republicans passed a bill that would defund Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) but would allocate funds to keep government running. How then, if Senate Democrats defeat this bill could the House Republicans be blamed for the democratic negative vote that would cause a government shutdown. This is typical logic for the Obama Administration. He wants his cake and eat it too. What is so affordable about the Affordable Care act. Unions, Businesses, citizens, doctors and yes, even democrats are joining the fray against Obamacare. What does the Obama Administration not understand about an overwhelming vote in the House to defund Obamacare. When all is said and done, the question is: Will the House Republicans hold the line and force the Democrats to accept their mistake, or will they break ranks and fold like an old beach chair on a sandy beach? I applaud Sen. Cruz' unofficial Read more

Barking Dogs, Your Author in Cape Gazette, Common Core-We've Got to Fight This Cancer. ================================ So yours truly made a half page article in the Cape Gazette dated 9/20/13. The reporter came to my house to take the picture and there it is. I avoided this story for over a week because, frankly, those people behind me wanting to steal my land scare the hell of me. I'm leery of too much exposure. They are still suing me for the four feet of land they can do nothing with. At least they say they are. They also say I have to pay THEIR legal fees and are throwing all kinds of threats. Mean people. But I refused the deal so look for a story on how my court case turns out. Now about this dog ordinance. Seems that on July 16 Sussex County Deputy Administrator Hal Godwin presented a proposal for a dog barking ordinance. This proposal was put on hold at a recent Read more

Republican House Votes To Defund Obamacare

The House Voted Friday to defund Obamacare, while continuing to allocate funds to keep the government operating through much of December. Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid vowed this bill would go down in defeat when it reached the senate floor. During Cable television appearances, President attacked republican conservatives in the House, as attempting to defund Obamacare to eliminate the middle class from receiving affordable health care. "Republicans are simply postponing for a few days the inevitable choice they must face. Pass a clean bill to fund the government, or force a shutdown," said Sen. Reid. House Speaker John Boehner said, "You've got businesses all over the country who are not hiring because of the impact of this law. You've got other businesses who are reducing the hours for their employees because of this law. And so, our message to the United States Senate is Read more

Inspirational America

With all the focus on Miley Cyrus' and similar "artistic" performances, it is refreshing to hear truly beautiful music accompanied by film depicting immigrants' joy at coming to America. Yes, nostalgic, but also a picture of America as she was and can be again, the land of opportunity. The performer, Andre Rieu, is sometimes criticized for being saccharine and overblown, but I think he hit it just right in this beautiful performance of Frank Sinatra's "I Did It my Way." I love the fact the women are dressed like princesses and the men like gentlemen--and they act accordingly. I was particularly touched by the pictures of the little boy with an ear to ear grin. I wondered what became of him, a transplant from Italy. He is a picture of each one of us, for our ancestors were all transplants. I love this country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-y581HdWfY&feature=player_embedded Read more

Delaware Politics and Tidbits-Read It and Weep-The 9/12/13_Edition-Sussex County Revises Property Dispute Procedures.

Indeed I did go to Disney World the week after Labor Day and I'll sum the visit up as most wonderful. My keen observation is that it is quite apparent that Disney World is not run by the gubmint or unelected bureaucrats as first words each "cast member" utters in response to a customer request is "I can do that for you" with a smile and good cheer. Can you imagine a gubmint employee or stupid bureaucrat doing such a thing? Anyway, follows is a link to my story about my property dispute and my testimony before the Sussex County Council. Seems the folks behind me got a survey done and their survey determined that my fence was somehow on their property. They sent me nasty letters to tear down my fence though I've lived here lawfully for more than ten years now, I purchased this house with a legal survey showing my fence within my property lines but the Sussex County Czar of Property Read more

On Syria: Silence Is Not Always Golden

Guest Post By: Rose Izzo Delaware Congressional District 1 "Delaware Liberal" a the left-wing Democrat web site which vigorously supports what it calls "humanitarian bombing" has characterized me as having a "new found pacifism" because of my opposition to a military attack on Syria. I resent the implication that I would not call for military action if the United States is directly threatened by a foreign power. I believe that as a voter you are entitled to know why I oppose a military strike against Syria. My opposition to what Liberal Delaware Democrats now call a "humanitarian bombing" of Syria is based on hard facts and common sense. First of all Pres. Obama's Middle East foreign policy has been an unmitigated disaster. Beginning with his "apology tour" of Egypt and more recently the collapse of Libya into a haven for radical Islamists. Now Republicans, independents and Read more

Colorado Shocker, Gun Control Advocates Recalled

The President of the State Senate John Morse and an ally were fired for their support of limiting the right of self defense. This will send a chill through efforts in other states except maybe the most blue. There will be no more national push on this issue. Governor Hickenlooper now wants to change the subject to jobs, education, and a healthier state. I bet his allies wish he thought of that in the first place instead of limiting the rights of people in need of self protection.

This 9/11 anniversary was my first in the War Zone. I have been activated before, but this was the real deal in Taliban Country. It contained moments that I will never forget. We had a Candlelight 9/11 Commemoration service themed "A Legacy of Hope and Strength". It featured words from the heart, original music including a tremendous and thought provoking rap by SFC Russell Burton, and an original song a mix between pop ballad and today's country by SPC Hillary Knutson answering war protestors who seem to hate the troops with a thoughtful and moving call to not praise war, but praise courage, don't love fighting, love freedom. She sang of the courage of the American Servicemember. There was hardly a dry eye among soldiers who laugh in the face of bombardment and through a party in the bunker. She wishes to be a professional singer. She will be. Those of you who think that Americanism Read more

Obama Takes Global Credibility Hit or Did He Do The Right Thing?

The American furor of a possible US military strike on Syria, for the slaughter of over 1,400 women, children and non-combatant men, using chemical weapons, by the Assad Regime, appears to have subsided. Tuesday's speech by President Barrack Obama, conceded, by an overwhelming majority, the American People rejected the idea of becoming militarily involved in Syria's civil war. Obama decided to accept the offer of Russia's President Vladimir Putin, to negotiate with Syria, an arrangement where Syria would relinquish its chemical weapons. It is considered a major coup by Putin, and a defeat for President Obama. As you listen to the speech contained in the link, I have provided, you will make your own decisions based on what you hear. Please express you opinions. http://www.washingtonpost.com/posttv/politics/obamas-full-speech-on-syria/2013/09/10/ed0bf9ba-1a85-11e3-82ef-a059e54c49d0_video.html Read more

HuffPo Asks: Is Obama Administration Most Corrupt in US History?

With Moveon.org now lobbying against the resolution concerning war in Syria and the president’s won grassroots organization declaring neutrality, it’s becoming apparent there are some cracks in the coalition that helped elect Obama. But you know the president is in trouble when the Huffington Post, usually a reliable shill for everything Obama is and stands for, asks in a lead article, “Is the Obama Administration the Most Corrupt in US History?”   It seems things are not quite the same as they used to be among The One’s supporters. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-zuesse/is-the-obama-administrati_2_b_3094454.html Now it is true the author also lays blame on Bush and the Republicans, but the very fact he criticizes the president so severely is very significant and probably a good sign that the GOP should leap on the points mentioned, hammering them home again and again. Australia Rejects Extreme Left: There’s a Lesson Here…

It looks like there is hope for US conservatives emanating from the country down under.  Tony Abbott, a conservative whose political outlook has been heavily influenced by the Catholic theologian Santamaria, was elected over his progressive opponent. Australia, according to the Telegraph, evidently was “exhausted by a decade of puritanical political correctness” and leftist governmental follies, so its citizens elected a Christian whose political philosophy is undergirded by his…gasp!!...theology. The author states lefties are probably reduced to sobbing into their beers in deep despair. The Telegraph reports: “[…] in recent years the Left gained an ascendance over the Right. […] Under Gillard and Rudd, the ALP "bought" off Australia's metropolitan elites by embracing issues like gay marriage and the green agenda – the latter threatening the livelihoods of ordinary Read more

Excessive Dog Barking Ordinance

A hearing concerning the excessive dog barking ordinance for Sussex County will be held this coming Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the Sussex County Council Chambers.  Anyone who wishes to be heard will be heard. There is an exception to the invitation: No barking dogs, who are the target of the law, will be permitted to speak.  I’m sure someone will object to the discriminatory rule of no dogs allowed to talk. 😉 http://www.sussexcountyde.gov/docs/ordinances/excessive_dog_barking_ord.INTRODUCED.07-30-13.pdf

Russia Seen Moving Warships From Black Sea To Mediterranean ‘To Evacuate Russians’

The Kremlin's chief of staff says Russia has been sending warships from its Black Sea Fleet, to the Mediterranean Sea for possible evacuation of Russian citizens from Syria, according to Associated Press reports. A larger Russian military presence in the Western Mediterranean stokes fears of an increasing chance of hostilities between the two superpowers. The US assets in the area already include an aircraft carrier task force and four other warships. Despite US Secretary of State John Kerry's insistence that American authorities know that Assad's regime in responsible for the release of chemical agents that killed over 1 ,400 Syrian men, women and children, Russian President Vladimir Putin disputed that fact. Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesman, told reporters at the G-20 summit that the US should wait for the report of U.N. inspectors who investigated the incident. Putin has Read more

Question of the Week–Why is Delaware’s Economy Stalled?

The unemployment rate in Delaware has remained frozen at a level higher than when our ruling Democratic party took sole control of the state government. Even more disturbing, Delaware is losing ground against the nation (now predominately led by Republican Governors). Delaware no longer enjoys a rate lower than the nation. Of course the official rates are an understatement; the real national unemployment rate is 8.8% (U-5) and the underemployment rate or U-6 which is the broadest measure of unemployment is 14%. Delaware does not fare well by that measure either at 14.1%. In fact Delaware and Connecticut are the only two states that did not see an improvement in any of the 6 measures of unemployment year over year from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. The average weekly wage downstate is only 75% of the national average. It is not that we do not have bright and energetic leadership Read more

Open Thread on: Whose Finger Is Actually On The Trigger?

I wonder exactly whose finger is really on the "war trigger," in the absence of any real competent leadership at the helm as Commander in Chief. Yes, I believe Syria's Regime is an abomination and has used chemical weapons against civilians, that includes women and children. Whose purpose are we really serving, if the Obama Administration launches a meaningless attack on Syria, without backing it up with support for Israel. When the attack is launched, Rogue State Iran is certain to use this as an excuse to launch a concentrated attack on Israel, with Arab States eventually joining in the fray against their ancient enemy, and Iran has already stated they would attack Israel, which leaves out any guess work. It won't stop there with so much oil in the region. Russia has already stated, the results for America and the world would be catastrophic if an attack were launched against Iran. Another Read more
