Harry Reid’s Dream

Sen. Harry Reid (D Nev.), Senate Majority Leader, has announced that he will be pushing for a test vote in the Senate for the so-called "DREAM ACT". This is a bill that many see as little more than amnesty for illegal immigrants.   Others see it as a pay back to the hispanic community that helped re-elect him to the Senate. Of course the Service Employees International Union is in favor of this legislation, since their ranks are filled by many illegals.   The so-called "Dream Act" is a bill that would create a path to citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants that came to the country before the age of sixteen. Estimates put the number of potential beneficiaries around 100,000.   The act would require that the children would have to attend college or serve in the military.   My first response to this is that if the parents are illegal then so are the children. Sussex Passes No Gas Tax Hike Resolution

Today, the Sussex County Council passed a resolution expressing the sense of the council that the proposed 25 cent gas hike should be abandoned.  Are you listening Federal delegation?  The people don't need this tax. Update: News Brief Sussex County urges Congress to reconsider fuel tax bill Georgetown, Del., Nov. 30, 2010: Sussex County Council is urging Congressional leaders to back off a proposal that would increase the federal fuel tax, an idea that, if enacted, would mean more dollars out of the pockets of Sussex Countians and millions of Americans. County Council, at its Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, meeting, adopted a resolution calling on Delaware’s Congressional Delegation to withdraw any support for the proposal to raise by 25 cents a gallon – or any other increased amount – the federal portion of the fuel tax to pay for infrastructure improvements, such as bridges Read more

Why Does the Administration Allow WikiLeaks?

If lives are truly being endangered by WikiLeaks trading in the theft of classified information, why doesn't the administration act like it? We are at war. If a website was publishing war secrets, I would treat it more seriously than some copyright dispute. This week the Obama administration's Department of Homeland Security moved to shut down websites to please corporate interests, but it will not publicly move against a site pledging to release millions of stolen diplomatic cables. If a foreign nation seized them, it would be an act of war and a violation of every accord sanctioned in International Law. There is an attack on the site right now preventing it from being available, but it seems like a denial of service attack. It is likely some patriot or group of patriots. It seems too simple for a government attack. There should be a virus destroying its servers and for good measure Read more

Media Dishonesty to the Point of Lying on Palin

I think it is worth a mild smile when Governor Palin said "our N. Korean allies", but she had just referred to N. Korea as the aggressor in the same reply. It is so obvious that the one word had nothing to do with her knowledge that one would have to be completely disingenuous or an idiot unable to understand basic context and language to say otherwise. I just wanted to document the actual statement for the future. As the governor points out, everyone has a slip of the tongue. I wonder how many of the critics listened to the quote. It seems Politico posted it before listening to it, but had the integrity to say later--oh. Today on Glenn Beck's radio show, Palin mixed up her Koreas. "This speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy," said Palin "But obviously we've gotta stand with our North Korean allies." UPDATE: Read more

There Will Be Blood

It looks like the bloodletting in the Delaware GOP continues. Do I sense a law suit in the offing? From the Christine O'Donnell website (www.truth@meetchristineodonnell.com), a piece by Jon Mosely in which he states the bylaws of the Republicn Party were violated and that Republican insiders cost O'Donnell the election. I posted the longish piece in its entirety. REPUBLICAN INSIDERS in DELAWARE VIOLATED GOP RULES and CAUSED REPUBLICAN LOSSES in NOVEMBER ELECTIONS Contact: Jon Moseley (703) 656-1230 WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (November 29, 2010) -- Delaware's Republican Party both violated its own Bylaws and caused the Delaware Republican Party's losses in the November 2, 2010, general election, a new analysis reveals. Are We Really Safer?

Am I really suppose to feel safer when a system cannot tell the difference between a sanitary napkin and a bomb?   Most Airports still do not have the full body scanners.  Are careless TSA agents putting us at risk of disease by not changing gloves which is far greater in likelihood than the threat they are trying to prevent?   Why are we allowing the great USA to become a laughstock of the world?

Radical Left Calling to Prepare for Armed Revolution

With defeats at the ballot box, it is time to prepare for armed revolution.  Just in case, mind you.  Radical left wing loon Jason Sc** at DelawareLiberal.net spent too much time reading radical crazy talk.  While I am sure he will find his meds and return to a semblance of  sanity (just being sarcastic-- I am not making claims about Jason33o's mental health), he is symptomatic of the despair building of the left. If you think that the corporatist are now so firmly entrenched in power that they can not be dislodged at the ballot box; and if you think American as it stands now is unsustainable, and if you don’t want to move or cede the country to The 700 Clubers, then you might want to check out the Rude Pundit. The spark from this came from  Ted Rall who has a new book, the Anti-American Manifesto which naturally was being promoted on the anti-American friendly network Marxist Read more

Proud of These Guys

A shout out to a couple of members of my Church here. Congratulations on the first project which will soon be released.  There is nothing wrong with good Theology mixed with cool music.  It is another tool to reclaim the culture.  Now back to your normal programing.

Soft Tyranny: The Death of the Constitutional Republic

"Nobody likes to have their 4th Amendment violated going through a security line, but truth of the matter is, we're gonna have to do it." Mo McGowan Former TSA Administrator I wonder, when did we give bureaucrats the authority to amend the Constitution? Some would say abolish the Transportation Security Adminstration not the 4th Amendment. I love America.  I want her safe, but I also want her free.  I am concerned with the talk about expanding the reach of the TSA beyond airports to government buildings, train stations, and bus terminals.  I am even more concerned about recent documents obtained through a FOIA fight that we may visit after I have time to study them, to have vehicle scanners in our cities and video taping our moves in public.  Most of you know that I opposed the so called Patriot Act.  I am a skeptic of government surveillance of our citizens.  I was consistently Read more

The Honorable Hazel Plant

She was sometimes controversial, but always principled.  Representative Hazel Plant didn’t ride off of her late husband’s coattails into office.  She was a full partner in community activism for decades.  She was a person who exemplified family values in her life including taking in her great grandchild when her granddaughter was murdered in 1999.  She fought for justice her entire life.  She stood with the underdog. Representative Hazel Plant passed away after an extended illness yesterday.  She was 76. DelawarePolitics.net offers our prayers and condolences to the Plant family.

Keep those planes warm this winter

Woman found bikini worked to avoid scan and pat down. The video interview is first then the story explains the result. The concern over the scan is overblown in my view. No one sees who you are. That is why 80% of us say so what. The new pat downs are not even done by law enforcement. The terrorists do not have the technology to take a plane down with “underwear” bombs so it is silly to divert resources as if it was a real threat. Anyway, at least this young lady gives America something to smile about this Thanksgiving travel season.

Historical Flashback: Teddy Roosevelt Thanksgiving Day 1902

THANKSGIVING DAY - 1902 BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - A PROCLAMATION According to the yearly custom of our people, it falls upon the President at this season to appoint a day of festival and thanksgiving to God. Over a century and a quarter has passed since this country took its place among the nations of the earth, and during that time we have had, on the whole, more to be thankful for than has fallen to the lot of any other people. Generation after generation has grown to manhood and passed away. Each has had to bear its peculiar burdens, each to face its special crisis, and each has known cares of grim trial, when the country was menaced by malice domestic or foreign levy, when the hand of the Lord was heavy upon it in drought or flood or pestilence, when in bodily distress and in anguish of soul it paid the penalty of folly and a froward heart. Nevertheless, decade Read more

Happy Thanksgiving: Our Traditional Presidential Proclamation

Here is the official proclamation. As is our tradition, we publish the President's Thanksgiving Day Proclamation. Presidential Proclamation--Thanksgiving Day A beloved American tradition, Thanksgiving Day offers us the opportunity to focus our thoughts on the grace that has been extended to our people and our country. This spirit brought together the newly arrived Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe -- who had been living and thriving around Plymouth, Massachusetts for thousands of years -- in an autumn harvest feast centuries ago. This Thanksgiving Day, we reflect on the compassion and contributions of Native Americans, whose skill in agriculture helped the early colonists survive, and whose rich culture continues to add to our Nation's heritage. We also pause our normal pursuits on this day and join in a spirit of fellowship and gratitude for the year's bounties and Read more

Thanksgiving

Sometimes music says what words cannot. I hope you enjoy a performance of an arrangement by Virgil Fox, one of the world’s foremost organists. His arrangement of Bach’s “Now thank We All Our God” lives on.

Giving Thanks

I will make this short. Not something I am known for mind you.  I would like to give thanks for all of God's blessings. God has truly blessed me. I have a wife and daughter that are the center of my world. I have been able to provide for them a life that has been sometimes happy, but like everyone, sometimes trying. We enjoy the happy times and work together to get through the trying times. We pray that the trying times never have the effect of driving us apart.   My life has had different stages. As a young man I was troubled and was easily led astray. As a young adult I met and married the calming influence in my life. It was truly a gift from God the day I married my wife. We were then blessed with a child that any parent would be proud of,  and we are, as we watch as she now grows into a young woman with goals of her own. Now as a mature man(some might say middle-aged) I have Read more

Should County Taxpayers Foot a $600,000 Bill to Move a Current Councilman to Council President?

Statement by New Castle County Republican Chair Michael Fleming: It is disappointing, but not surprising, that Democrats who have been running county council now want to spend an an estimated $600,000* just so one of their own can move from council to the council president's chair. This is the same unchecked, one-party rule that has given us tax increases of nearly fifty percent, repeated refusals to make council proceedings more open to the public, unreasonable restrictions on citizen access to government documents, and a land-planning process plagued by special interest influence and apparent conflicts of interest. With a record like this, it is stunning that county politicians think that one of their own deserves a promotion - at a cost to taxpayers estimated to be $600,000! And after six years on council, Tim Sheldon now says he is ready to address ethics problems that have been Read more

Let Me Get This Straight

A Maryland Physical Therapist was arrested for touching and massaging a client's breasts unwanted.  He was promptly fired.  I guess he choose the wrong career field.   I hear that his next career will be to wear drag and join the TSA.  Don't mistake me.  What he did was wrong.  My point is that we wouldn't have our law enforcement do this, we wouldn't have our medical professionals randomly do this.  The TSA cannot even give the public assurances that it changes gloves.  I personally have no particular issue with the full body scanner.  I do have an issue with this crazy violation of the 4th amendment.
