261st Returned Safely

Praise be to God, the 261st Signal Brigade of the Delaware Army National Guard returned from Iraq with everyone. It was a successful and historic mission. It was the first time that a Delaware General officer had active duty war time command since WW2 and it was the first time a Guard brigade ran signal operations for an entire war theater in about the same time frame. There can no longer be pretend divisions between the active and the guard. I welcome home my friends. They gave great credit to our state. The event was short (about 40 minutes), but meaningful. The Vice President gave some meaningful words to the family and left to meet with the Generals regarding Afghanistan policy. A political aside, some fellow readers sent messages to you. Representatives John Atkins and Darryl Scott sent their greetings to our readers as self described conservative Democrats. They also Read more

Does everything have to be commented upon

Why does the Republican leadership need to jump in with comments on President Obama’s trip to Denmark for the pitch to get the games in America? Let the media deal with his contradictory statements. It just looks petty and is not an issue that Republicans are united upon. We need to stay focused. It would have been better to announce a caucus endorsement of Ryan/Coburn or something. Forgive me but I don’t get it. I personally supported the President going to Denmark. It just annoys me that he keeps coming back.

Woody Allen and other Hollywood Liberals sign free Polanski Petition.

It seems the Hollywood glitz crowd had a new cause celebre. Yes the American Justice system is at it again persecuting some poor soul who just fell into the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course I am talking about Roman Polanski. It seems to some that drugging a 13 year old for the purpose of engaging in intercourse and sodomy is something that we should forgive and forget. The signatories of this petition are the usual suspects for the banal liberal causes and one would suspect that a conservative figure accused of the identical crime would not generate such a petition. One name however stands out if for nothing else pure chutzpah. Noted Child seducer Woody Allen, a guy who never had to leave his own family home to find his child bride, has his name prominently displayed as supporting Polanski’s behavior of having sex with 13 year olds without having to pay the consequences. G-20 hypocrisy on full display

We have heard over the last few months from liberals such as Nancy Pelosi and the liberal news media, that the Tea Party events and Town Hall meetings were the source of dire concern because they might cause violence. These outrageous statements are never backed up by the facts. The only violence at the Town Hall meetings and the Tea Parties have been by leftist thugs such as the SEIU union members who assaulted a Town Hall attendee in St. Louis. Of course, Last week the leftists were vandalizing, throwing rocks, assaulting the police in Pittsburgh. What we hear from the left such as Pelosi and the news media is silence. The leftists will not even condemn the lawless behavior of the so called “protestors” at the G-20 meeting. Sean Hannity came upon a couple of the G-20 protestors who claim they did not participate in the violence. That being said they also refused to condemn the Read more

I support Rubio over Crist for Florida Senate

According to polls either Republican has a solid lead over any Democrat planning to run for U. S. Senate. Most of the attention has turned to the governor who should be running for reelection. The establishment is falling over themselves to support the moderate Crist. I do not. We do not need a Specter light who fell all over himself to appear with President Obama to show support for the stimulus bill while the entire party was trying to push amendments to make it better. He undermined what ever chance there was of doing it. He is a social suspect, a fiscal whimp, and about personal popularity. The former Speaker of the state house of representatives Marco Rubio is just the opposite. He built a conservative governing majority in Florida. He is a leader of the party and a voice for principle. When we are in a situation where we need every vote to count, why would we send someone Read more

Merkel Wins, but the big victors are the FDP

The Free Market oriented Free Democrat Party set a new record gaining nearly 15% of the vote. As the two major parties receded a clear message of tax cuts and deregulation gained currency in Germany. Chancelor Merkel won a solid victory of 10 points over the left leaning SDP, but her party had the second lowest showing ever. The emerging force and no longer also ran partner is the FDP. A message of free markets and economic empowerment also polls well here.  We can not be timid about our message in these times.  It works even in France and Germany.  Do not buy that Americans have abandoned it.  Americans are angry at the direction of our ever expanding government.

President Obama Gets Serious

Finally President Obama is jumping into action and heading to the frontlines to end this battle once and for all and he is ready to pull out all of the stops.  That’s right, the battle for which country will host the 2016 Olympic Games.  The President has assembled an impressive team to take this fight to Denmark.  Will his shock and awe strategy overwhelm the competition?  Here is the AP description of who will be going.   “Obama is also mobilizing his administration on behalf of Chicago's bid. Senior adviser Jarrett, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, will also be joining the president and first lady in Copenhagen. All are from Illinois. They join a Chicago contingent already packed with more star power than a Hollywood red carpet. The first lady is one of the few people who rivals her husband in visibility, and she'll be joined by Read more

Is it time for Potential GOP frontrunners to step back in?

Blanche Lincoln has a 36% approval rating and polls 40 to 39% in a match up against Bruce Cotton who has single digit name recognition in the same poll. I almost wonder if it is time for Mike Huckabee to consider entering that race and dispatching her. His numbers in Arkansas are stratospheric and he would be a lock if he didn't take it for granted. The problem is that he has contract obligations not only with Fox News but ABC radio (replacing Paul Harvey). Still imagine if he used it to tout a shadow agenda. If he offered up alternative bills to each one proposed by the white house. It would electrify the country. He is one of only a few people with the clout to become the instant leader of the opposition. Another one who could would be Mitt Romney. His numbers are still pretty good in Massachusetts though not a lock and there is a special election early next year. I think he should Read more

Abortion is not healthcare Call Sentator Carper Monday

Members of the U.S. Senate Financial Services Committee will be voting NEXT TUESDAY on amendments to keep abortion coverage out of Sen. Max Baucus's (D-Mont.) health care bill. Sen. Baucus's health care bill explicitly includes abortion and would subsidize health plans that cover all elective abortions. Such subsidies for abortion goes well beyond the status quo of preventing federal funds either from paying for abortion or subsidizing plans that covers abortion as is prevented under current laws governing Medicaid, the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan, and the State Children's Health Insurance Plan. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) has introduced several amendments that would prevent government funding for abortion and would protect current conscience laws for health workers. Please call these key Senators today and urge them to support Sen. Hatch's amendments to keep government funded Read more

Surge possibility drives Bin Laden into frenzy.

Bin Laden stands against killing innocent citizens while using them as shields. Appeals to Europe with this great heart rending quote. "One of the greatest injustices is to kill people unjustly, and this is exactly what your governments and soldiers are committing under the cover of the NATO alliance in Afghanistan," bin Laden said in the recording, entitled "A message to the people of Europe." Is Bin Laden senile or does he think Europe is that stupid? I know that here in America we shall never waiver, never falter, and even though we get weary we shall persevere until the world is free from his plague of lies and deaf. Failure is not an option Mr. President. If you lead we shall follow to victory. Do what ever it takes because he will. Darryl Worley - Have You Forgotten ----- Lyrics: I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war. I say there's some things worth fightin' Read more

The World comes to us-Mid Atlantic Regional Political Roundup

This time the whole world is paying attention to us with Pittsburgh and the G-20 and NY having its annual United Nations gabfest.  I love New York  or New Jersey or anywhere that will let me pitch my tent said Col. Qaddafi (dozen spelling variations).  It is funny how hugging a terrorist in a hero's welcome makes you unwelcomed in the Mid-Atlantic. New York--This was actually a very good week substantively for NY Governor David Patterson so it figures he spent most of in a tiff with President Obama and overshadowed by leaders around the world.  Poor guy even Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he felt for him.  He had a major victory where the New York Court of Appeals (their highest court) overturned lower court decisions and validated his Lt. Governor. He called for eliminating the entire 2 billion dollar short fall with spending cuts and no tax or fee increases.  We didn't even have new Read more

Would Hillary had been better?

Ever seen someone who did not think through something? Would Hillary had been better than John McCain? No, it would have been the same Neo-socialist agenda with more Republican hating and a lot more corruption. Mrs. Clinton would only have appointed secret Marxists. I personally think the absolute worse person who could have been elected would have been Secretary Clinton. The Clintons are corrupt and use the government for their own personal domain. President Obama is at least an honest man who really wants to help the people. He is working his hardest in the toughest circumstance anyone had entered the Presidency since President Reagan. He is not an evil guy. That just does not make his policies magically work, unfortunately. Good intentions do not equate to good policy. For example, the idea that if Russia, China, Britain, France, and America got rid of our nukes the world would Read more

The Regional Round Political Up will be a little late this week. Please check Saturday.  The whole gang has been a little under the weather so it is your turn. If you really want to be green this national Pollution Week, read a digital magazine like this week's Sussex Coastal Weekly. If you don't want to be green, just print it up and toss the paper away when you are finished. (You should at least recycle right) Either way this may be the best beach weekend without the crowds. If the weather holds, there are plenty of attractions and even plenty if it doesn't. For all the Elvis Fans who came because of Elbert's funny post, I have good news. He will be at the Rusty Rudder this weekend or is it a tribute festival. I guess you guys will have to follow the link. That's Dave's free plug for month. LOL In other Green news, some of the 261st is back on American soil according to rumors. Read more

It’s Been Official!!! Bonini files Treasurer’s Race Committee

Colin Bonini Has filed the Statement of Organization to run for the Office of State Treasurer. This is the first step necessary for a viable campaign and allows Colin to raise money for this race. Colin made this move without fanfare.  His Organization Statement is dated 8-10-09. (The weekend after the Dover Tea Party event if my memory serves me well.) Anyone wishing to make a direct donation to Colin Bonini can do so by writing a check to "Colin Bonini for Delaware" and sending the check to 101 S. Main St. Camden De. 19934.   Colin has toyed with the idea of running for statewide office before and has been encouraged by many in years past. I believe that he will stay the course on this race.  For those of you who support Colin there is no better way to convince him to get in and stay in then a check of whatever you can afford. Colin's fiscal conservatism is just what this state Read more

Parents Beware Obama Indoctrination alive in NJ

A few weeks back when Obama scheduled a speech for all of the U.S. school children, some protested. In some quarters these folks were dismissed as kooks. Surely there would be no effort to just indoctrinate kids by Obama supporters? Well in one New Jersey school it is already going on.  Here are the lyrics of songs being taught to 4 to 6 year old Children to praise Obama. Song 1: "He said that all must lend a hand To make this country strong again Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said we must be fair today Equal work means equal pay Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said that we must take a stand To make sure everyone gets a chance Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama He said red, yellow, black or white All are equal in his sight Mmm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama Yes! Mmm, mmm, mm Barack Hussein Obama Song 2: Hello, Mr. President we honor you today! For Read more

Gaddafi Actually Has A Great Idea

Lybian dictator Muammar Gaddafi made a speech before the United Nations today. The speech lasted for 1 hour and 36 minutes, well over the 15 minutes normally allotted for speeches. According to news reports, he rambled on and on covering his opinions on world events for the last forty years, but the best thing the man said is reported by CNN: Citing tough U.S. security, Gadhafi also broached the idea of moving the U.N. headquarters out of the United States and suggested putting it in another location, like China or India. That is a great idea! Certainly we could raise a large group of volunteers that would gladly help get that festering boil off of US soil. The day the last U.N. bureaucrat hops on the jet out of here could become a national day of celebration. It couldn't come sooner. Read more

Delaware Family Policy Council Praises School Board Vote

Sussex County - The Indian River School Board last night voted 6 to 2 to pass a non-binding resolution opposing the proposed Del Pointe racino. The Delaware Family Policy Council, a statewide organization whose purpose is to advance public policy that supports strong families, applauds the common sense resolution to protect school children from the damaging impact of gambling. Jordan Warfel, public policy analyst for the Delaware Family Policy Council, made the following comments. "Gambling is not just a financial and budget issue, it has profound implications for marriage and families that must be considered. The Indian River School Board deserves praise for bringing the best interest of its students to the center of the Del Pointe debate." "There is overwhelming precedent for public policy that protects school children from negative influences by eliminating those negative Read more
