The race to replace long-time Senator Thurman Adams is now in over-drive. What’s at stake in this race?
The one who wins this seat must be ready to hit the ground running. They will take over in the middle of a legislative session. They will almost immediately begin working on a state budget which will be worse than the one just passed. They will have to face decisions on the economy, taxes, the environment, social concerns, and the proper use of our resources. It is on time for “on the job training”. The successful candidate must be ready from day one.
The key to the race will be voter turnout on August 3 – a Monday! Identifying friendly voters has already started. Expect lots of calling and literature drops in the next three weeks. And door to door. And events. This will be a typical fall election campaign, crammed into 20 days. As a famous leading lady once said “hold on; its going to be a bumpy ride”:
